First ReadingActs 5:27b-32, 40b-41*

From the Acts of the Apostles

27When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,28saying, “Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name?Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”

29But Peter and the apostles answered,“We must obey God rather than men.30The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.31God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior,to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.32We are his witnesses of these things;and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

verses 33–39 are not read40They agreed with him.Summoning the apostles, they beat themand commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.41They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for Jesus’ name.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 30:2 and 4, 5-6, 11-12a and 13b*

2I will extol you, Lord, for you have raised me up,and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.4Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

5Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of his.Give thanks to his holy name.6For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime.Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

11Hear, Lord, and have mercy on me.Lord, be my helper.”12You have turned my mourning into dancing for me.You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,13to the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent.Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Second ReadingRevelation 5:11-14*

From the Book of Revelation

11I looked, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders. The number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands,12saying with a loud voice,“Worthy is the Lambwho has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!”

13I heard every created thing which is in heaven,on the earth, under the earth,on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throneand to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!”

14The four living creatures said, “Amen!”Then the elders fell down and worshiped.

GospelJohn 21:1-19*

From the Gospel according to John

1After these things,Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.2Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus,Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.3Simon Peter said to them, “I’m going fishing.”

They told him, “We are also coming with you.”They immediately went out and entered into the boat. That night, they caught nothing.4But when day had already come, Jesus stood on the beach;yet the disciples didn’t know that it was Jesus.5Jesus therefore said to them,“Children, have you anything to eat?”

They answered him, “No.”

6He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”

They cast it therefore, and now they weren’t able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.7That disciple thereforewhom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!”

So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,he wrapped his coat around himself (for he was naked),and threw himself into the sea.8But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away),dragging the net full of fish.9So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish and bread laid on it.10Jesus said to them,“Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”

11Simon Peter went up,and drew the net to land, full of one hundred fifty-three great fish.Even though there were so many, the net wasn’t torn.

12Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast!”

None of the disciples dared inquire of him, “Who are you?”knowing that it was the Lord.

13Then Jesus came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise.14This is now the third timethat Jesus was revealed to his disciples after he had risen from the dead.15So when they had eaten their breakfast,Jesus said to Simon Peter,“Simon, son of Jonah,do you love me more than these?”

He said to him, “Yes, Lord;you know that I have affection for you.”

He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”16He said to him again a second time,“Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?”

He said to him, “Yes, Lord;you know that I have affection for you.”

He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”17He said to him the third time,“Simon, son of Jonah,do you have affection for me?”

Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time,“Do you have affection for me?”He said to him, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you.”

Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.18Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to.But when you are old,you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress youand carry you where you don’t want to go.”

19Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God.When he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”

Col. 3:14-15, 17, 23-24

Brethren: Have charity, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men: knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 13:54-58

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 13:54-58

At that time: Jesus coming into His country, He taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this Man by this wisdom and miracles? Is not this the carpenter's Son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude: and His sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath He all these things? And they were scandalized in His regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And He wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.

St. Joseph

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should magnify with due praises, bless and proclaim Thee on the solemnity of blessed Joseph; who, being a just man, was given by Thee as a Spouse to the Virgin Mother of God, and, as a faithful and prudent servant was set over Thy Family, that, with fatherly care, he might guard Thine only-begotten Son, conceived by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, even Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with them we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted, while we say with lowly praise:
