Calendars to subscribe to (iCal)

Add the liturgical calendar to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook (“subscribe by URL”), or to a parish website. Each feed runs from last year to next year and refreshes daily; every event links to the day’s Mass.

https://thedailymissal.com/api/v1/ical/england.ics every day: celebration, rank and colour
https://thedailymissal.com/api/v1/ical/england-feasts.ics solemnities, feasts and holy days of obligation
https://thedailymissal.com/api/v1/ical/1962.ics             the 1962 Missal's first- and second-class days

Examples

# Today's celebration and colour in Ireland
curl -s https://thedailymissal.com/api/v1/day/$(date +%F).json?cal=ireland | jq '.ordinaryForm.celebration | {name, colors}'

// In the browser (CORS is open)
const day = await fetch('https://thedailymissal.com/api/v1/day/2027-03-17.json?cal=ireland').then((r) => r.json());
console.log(day.ordinaryForm.celebration.name, day.missal1962.celebration.title);

Fair use

The API and the feeds are free and need no key. Each address may make up to 600 requests in ten minutes, about one a second; past that the answer is 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header giving the seconds to wait. Every response may be cached for a day, and a day’s data never changes, so a well-behaved client rarely comes near the limit.

Changes

  • October 2026 — fair-use limit of 600 requests per ten minutes per address.
  • October 2026 — iCal feeds for every calendar and for the 1962 Missal.
  • 2026 — v1: the day endpoint, with scripture text and the 1962 propers on request.

The data comes from romcal, Missale Meum and Divinum Officium; see sources and licences.
