From the Book of Sirach

1Let us now praise famous men,our ancestors in their generations. verses 2–9 are not read10But these were men of mercy, whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten.11A good inheritance remains with their offspring.Their children are within the covenant.12Their offspring stand fast, with their children, for their sakes.13Their offspring will remain forever.Their glory won’t be blotted out.14Their bodies were buried in peace.Their name lives to all generations.15People will declare their wisdom. The congregation proclaims their praise.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 132:11, 13-14, 17-18

11The Lord has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it:“I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.

13For the Lord has chosen Zion.He has desired it for his habitation.14“This is my resting place forever.I will live here, for I have desired it.

17I will make the horn of David to bud there.I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will shine.”
