First ReadingIsaiah 25:6-10a

From the Book of Isaiah

6In this mountain, the Lord of Armies will make all peoples a feast of choice meat,a feast of choice wines,of choice meat full of marrow,of well refined choice wines.7He will destroy in this mountain the surface of the coveringthat covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.8He has swallowed up death forever! The Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces. He will take the reproach of his people away from off all the earth, for the Lord has spoken it.

9It shall be said in that day, “Behold, this is our God!We have waited for him, and he will save us!This is the Lord!We have waited for him.We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation!”10For the Lord’s hand will rest in this mountain.

Moab will be trodden down in his place, even like straw is trodden down in the water of the dunghill.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6

1The Lord is my shepherd;I shall lack nothing.2He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.3He restores my soul.

3He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil, for you are with me.Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before mein the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil.My cup runs over.

6Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the Lord’s house forever.

Second ReadingPhilippians 4:12-14, 19-20

From the Letter of Paul to the Philippians

12I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.13I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.14However you did well that you shared in my affliction. verses 15–18 are not read19My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.20Now to our Godand Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

GospelMatthew 22:1-14

From the Gospel according to Matthew

or Matthew 22:1-10

1Jesus answeredand spoke to them again in parables, saying,2“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding feast for his son,3and sent out his servants to call thosewho were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.4Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited,“Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready.Come to the wedding feast!”’5But they made light of it,and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;6and the rest grabbed his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.7When the king heard that,he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

8“Then he said to his servants,‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.9Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’10Those servants went out into the highwaysand gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

11“But when the king came in to see the guests,he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,12and he said to him,‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’He was speechless.13Then the king said to the servants,‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’14For many are called, but few chosen.”

Ephes 6:10-17

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians

Eph 6:10-17

Brethren: Be strengthened in the Lord and in the might of His power. Put on the armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the Principalities and the Powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness on high. Therefore, take up the armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and stand in all things perfect. Stand, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breast-plate of justice, and having your feet shod with the readiness of the Gospel of peace, in all things taking up the shield of faith, with which you may be able to quench all the fiery darts of the most wicked one. And take unto you the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, that is, the word of God.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 18:23-35

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 18:23-35

At that time, Jesus spoke to His disciples this parable: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king who desired to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun the settlement, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And as he had no means of paying, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. But the servant fell down and besought him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will pay you all!’ And moved with compassion, the master of that servant released him, and forgave him the debt. But as that servant went out, he met one of his fellow-servants who owed him a hundred denarii and he laid hold of him, and throttled him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ His fellow-servant therefore fell down and began to entreat him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will pay you all.’ But he would not; but went away and cast him into prison until he should pay what was due. His fellow-servants therefore, seeing what had happened, were very much saddened, and they went and informed their master of what had taken place. Then his master called him, and said to him, ‘Wicked servant! I forgave you all the debt, because you entreated me. Should not you also have had pity on your fellow-servant, even as I had pity on you?’ And his master, being angry, handed him over to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So also My heavenly Father will do to you, if you do not each forgive your brothers from your hearts.

Job 1.1

Job 1.1

There was a man in the land of Hus, whose name was Job, simple, and upright, and fearing God, whom Satan besought that he might tempt: and power was given him from the Lord over his possessions and his flesh; and he destroyed all his substance and his children, and wounded his flesh also with a grievous ulcer.

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:

Ps 118:81; 118:84; 118:86

My soul pines for Your salvation; I hope in Your word. When will You do judgment on my persecutors? The wicked persecuted me wrongfully; help me, O Lord my God!
