First ReadingHebrews 9:2-3, 11-14

From the Letter to the Hebrews

2For a tabernacle was prepared. In the first part were the lamp stand, the table, and the show bread, which is called the Holy Place.3After the second veil was the tabernaclewhich is called the Holy of Holies,

verses 4–10 are not read11But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,12nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption.13For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling thosewho have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh,14how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God,cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 47:2-3, 6-7, 8-9

2Oh clap your hands, all you nations.Shout to God with the voice of triumph!3For the Lord Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.

6God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.7Sing praises to God! Sing praises!Sing praises to our King! Sing praises!

8For God is the King of all the earth.Sing praises with understanding.9God reigns over the nations.God sits on his holy throne.

GospelMark 3:20-21

From the Gospel according to Mark

20The multitude came together again,so that they could not so much as eat bread.21When his friends heard it, they went out to seize him;for they said, “He is insane.”

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Sap 3:1-8

Lesson from the book of Wisdom

Wis 3:1-8

The souls of the just are in the hands of God, and no torment of death shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was judged an affliction, and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are in peace. For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of Himself. As gold in the furnace, He proved them, and as sacrificial offerings He took them to Himself. In the time of their visitation they shall shine, and shall dart about as sparks through stubble; they shall judge nations and rule over peoples, and the Lord shall be their King forever.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 21:9-19

In patiéntia vestra possidébitis ánimas vestras.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 21:9-19

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; these things must first come to pass, but the end will not be at once. Then He said to them, Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be great earthquakes in various places, and pestilences and famines, and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. But before all these things they will arrest you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, dragging you before kings and governors for My name’s sake. It shall lead to your bearing witness. Resolve therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how you are to make your defense. For I Myself will give you utterance and wisdom, which all your adversaries will not be able to resist or gainsay. But you will be delivered up by your parents and brothers and relatives and friends; and some of you they will put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake; yet not a hair of your head shall perish. By your patience you will win your souls.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
