Terms of sale

These terms apply when you order a printed calendar. Reading the site is free and needs no account; the last sections cover it.

Who we are

The Daily Missal is run by GA Systems Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17453969), whose registered office is 2 Perry Street, Gateshead, NE9 5DX, United Kingdom. Write to us at [email protected].

Your order

Each calendar is made for the choices you make on the order page: the Missal, the national calendar, the year, the first month, the paper size and any dedication. The preview shows the cover and a sample month as they will be printed. Please check your choices, and the spelling of your dedication, before you pay: we print what you entered.

Prices are shown in the currency of the country you ship to. In the United States and Canada, sales tax is added at checkout where it applies; elsewhere, prices include any VAT or GST. Delivery is charged separately, and its price and expected time are shown before you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe when you order. Our contract is made when we email you the confirmation of your order. If we can’t fulfil an order, we’ll tell you and refund you in full.

Printing and delivery

Your calendar is printed by our print partner in or near your country and usually ships within a week. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. We email you tracking details when it ships. The calendar is at our risk until it is delivered to the address you gave us, and yours from then on. We print close to you so that there are no import charges; if your country does charge any, they are yours to pay.

If your calendar hasn’t arrived ten business days after the latest delivery date we gave, write to us: we’ll trace it, and replace it if it has been lost.

Changing or cancelling

Your calendar goes to print soon after you pay. If you’ve made a mistake, write to us straight away: if printing hasn’t started, we’ll cancel the order and refund you in full. Once it has, we can’t change or cancel it.

No returns, but we put mistakes right

Every calendar is made to your choices, so the right to cancel that usually comes with buying online doesn’t apply to it (in the United Kingdom, regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013; in the European Union, article 16(c) of the Consumer Rights Directive). We don’t accept returns or give refunds for a change of mind.

If your calendar arrives damaged, misprinted or not as you ordered it, write to us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photograph, and we’ll send a replacement free of charge, or refund you if we can’t. A celebration printed on the wrong day for the calendar you chose, as its bishops’ conference had published it when you ordered, counts as a misprint.

None of this affects your legal rights as a consumer, which in some countries, such as the United Kingdom, the European Union and Australia, can’t be excluded.

Your dedication

A dedication can be up to 60 characters, and you are responsible for it. Don’t include anything you don’t have the right to use, or that is unlawful or offensive: we may refuse such an order, or cancel it and refund you.

What the calendar shows

The calendars follow the national calendars published by the bishops’ conferences, and the rubrics of the 1962 Missal, checked against official sources. Dioceses, parishes and religious orders may keep feasts of their own or keep a celebration on another day, and a later decision of the Church may change a date after your calendar is printed; your parish or diocese is the authority for what is celebrated where you are. The Daily Missal is independent: it is not published or endorsed by any bishops’ conference or by the bodies that publish the Lectionary or the Missal.

Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care, up to the price you paid for the order. We aren’t responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable, for business losses, or for delays caused by events outside our control, such as postal disruption. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.

Using the site

Reading the site and using its open data are free, within the fair-use limits described there. The readings and calendar information are offered in good faith, as they are, without any warranty: where it matters, check with your parish. The scripture and the 1962 texts are from public domain and openly licensed sources, listed on the sources and licences page. How we handle your details is set out in our privacy notice.

Law and complaints

If something goes wrong, please write to us first at [email protected]; we answer every message. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of your own country’s law and may bring a claim in its courts.

We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
