First ReadingActs 5:12-16*

From the Acts of the Apostles

12By the hands of the apostles many signsand wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.13None of the rest dared to join them;however, the people honored them.14More believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.15They even carried out the sick into the streetsand laid them on cots and mattresses,so that as Peter came by,at least his shadow might overshadow some of them.16The multitude also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people and thosewho were tormented by unclean spirits;and they were all healed.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 118:2-4, 22-24, 25-27a*

2Let Israel now saythat his loving kindness endures forever.3Let the house of Aaron now saythat his loving kindness endures forever.4Now let those who fear the Lord saythat his loving kindness endures forever.

22The stone which the builders rejectedhas become the cornerstone.23This is the Lord’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.24This is the day that the Lord has made.We will rejoice and be glad in it!

25Save us now, we beg you, Lord!Lord, we beg you, send prosperity now.26Blessed is he who comes in the Lord’s name!We have blessed you out of the Lord’s house.27The Lord is God, and he has given us light.Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

Second ReadingRevelation 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19*

From the Book of Revelation

9I John, your brotherand partner with you in the oppression,Kingdom, and perseverance in Christ Jesus, was on the isle that is called Patmosbecause of God’s Word and the testimony of Jesus Christ.10I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day,and I heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpet11saying, “What you see, write in a book and send to the seven assemblies:to Ephesus, Smyrna,Pergamum, Thyatira,Sardis, Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

12I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.Having turned, I saw seven golden lamp stands.13And among the lamp stands was one like a son of man, clothed with a robe reaching down to his feet, and with a golden sash around his chest. verses 14–16 are not read17When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man.

He laid his right hand on me, saying, “Don’t be afraid.I am the first and the last,18and the Living one.I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever.Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades.19Write therefore the things which you have seen, and the things which are,and the things which will happen hereafter.

GospelJohn 20:19-31

From the Gospel according to John

19When therefore it was evening on that day,the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews,Jesus came and stood in the middle and said to them,“Peace be to you.”

20When he had said this,he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord.21Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you.As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”22When he had said this,he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit!23If you forgive anyone’s sins, they have been forgiven them.If you retain anyone’s sins, they have been retained.”

24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, wasn’t with them when Jesus came.25The other disciples therefore said to him,“We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them,“Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side,I will not believe.”

26After eight days, again his disciples were insideand Thomas was with them.Jesus came, the doors being locked, and stood in the middle, and said, “Peace be to you.”27Then he said to Thomas,“Reach here your finger, and see my hands.Reach here your hand, and put it into my side.Don’t be unbelieving, but believing.”

28Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

29Jesus said to him,“Because you have seen me,you have believed.Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

30Therefore Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book;31but these are written that you may believethat Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, andthat believing you may have life in his name.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Joánnis Apóstoli

1 Joannes 5:4-10

Lesson from the first letter of St John the Apostle

1 John 5:4-10

Dearly beloved, Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory, which overcometh the world, our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is He that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth that Christ is the truth. And there are three who give testimony in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that give testimony on earth: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three are one. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater: for this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because He hath testified of His Son. He that believeth in the Son of God hath the testimony of God in himself.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 20:19-31

Sicut misit me Pater, et ego mitto vos.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 20. 19-31

At that time, when it was late that same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered together for fear of the Jews, Jesus came, and stood in the midst and said to them: Peace be to you. And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent Me, I also send you. When He had said this, He breathed on them, and He said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost: whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained. Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him: We have seen the Lord. But he said to them: Except I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe. And after eight days, again His disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said: Peace be to you. Then He saith to Thomas: Put in thy finger hither, and see My hands, and bring hither thy hand, and put into My side; and be not faithless, but believing. Thomas answered and said to Him: my Lord and my God. Jesus saith to him: Because thou hast seen Me, Thomas, thou hast believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and have believed. Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of His disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that, believing, you may have life in His Name.

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
