First ReadingEzekiel 28:1-10

From the Book of Ezekiel

1The Lord’s word came again to me, saying,2“Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, ‘The Lord GOD says:

“Because your heart is lifted up,and you have said, ‘I am a god,I sit in the seat of God,in the middle of the seas;’yet you are man,and no god, though you set your heart as the heart of a god—3behold, you are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that is hidden from you.4By your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten yourself riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasuries.5By your great wisdomand by your trading you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches—”

6“‘therefore the Lord GOD says:

“Because you have set your heart as the heart of God,7therefore, behold, I will bring strangers on you,the terrible of the nations. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom. They will defile your brightness.8They will bring you down to the pit.You will die the death of those who are slainin the heart of the seas.9Will you yet say before him who kills you, ‘I am God’?But you are man, and not God,in the hand of him who wounds you.10You will die the death of the uncircumcisedby the hand of strangers;for I have spoken it,” says the Lord GOD.’”

Responsorial PsalmDeuteronomy 32:26-27ab, 27cd-28, 30, 35cd-36ab

From the Book of Deuteronomy

26I said that I would scatter them afar.I would make their memory to cease from among men;27were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should judge wrongly,

27lest they should say, ‘Our hand is exalted;the Lord has not done all this.’”28For they are a nation void of counsel. There is no understanding in them.

30How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had delivered them up?

35Vengeance is mine, and recompense,at the time when their foot slides, for the day of their calamity is at hand.Their doom rushes at them.”36For the Lord will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, that there is no one remaining, shut up or left at large.

GospelMatthew 19:23-30

From the Gospel according to Matthew

23Jesus said to his disciples,“Most certainly I say to you,a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

25When the disciples heard it,they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

26Looking at them, Jesus said,“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

27Then Peter answered,“Behold, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?”

28Jesus said to them,“Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me,in the regenerationwhen the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.29Everyone who has left houses,or brothers, or sisters,or father, or mother,or wife, or children,or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit eternal life.30But many will be last who are first, and first who are last.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

1 Cor 12:2-11

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor. 12:2-11

Brethren: You know that when you were Gentiles, you went to dumb idols according as you were led. Wherefore I give you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God, says Anathema to Jesus. And no one can say Jesus is Lord, except in the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of ministries, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of workings, but the same God, Who works all things in all. Now the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for profit. To one through the Spirit is given the utterance of wisdom; and to another the utterance of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; to another faith, in the same Spirit; to another the gift of healing, in the one Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another the distinguishing of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. But all these things are the work of one and the same Spirit, Who allots to everyone according as He will.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 18:9-14

Jejúno bis in sábbato: décimas do ómnium, quæ possídeo.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 18:9-14

At that time, Jesus spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves as being just and despised others. Two men went up to the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and began to pray thus within himself: ‘O God, I thank You that I am not like the rest of men, robbers, dishonest, adulterers, or even like this publican. I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I possess.’ But the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes to heaven, but kept striking his breast, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me the sinner!’ I tell you, this man went back to his home justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted.

Ps 24:1-3

To You I lift up my soul, O Lord. In You, O my God, I trust; let me not be put to shame, let not my enemies exult over me. No one who waits for You shall be put to shame.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
