First ReadingColossians 1:9-14

From the Letter of Paul to the Colossians

9For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don’t cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10that you may walk worthily of the Lord,to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good workand increasing in the knowledge of God,11strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy,12giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light,13who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love,14in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 98:2-3ab, 3cd-4, 5-6

2The Lord has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.3He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.

3All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.4Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

5Sing praises to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the voice of melody.6With trumpets and sound of the ram’s horn, make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.

GospelLuke 5:1-11

From the Gospel according to Luke

1Now while the multitude pressed on himand heard the word of God,he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.2He saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of themand were washing their nets.3He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s,and asked him to put out a little from the land.He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.

4When he had finished speaking,he said to Simon, “Put out into the deepand let down your nets for a catch.”

5Simon answered him,“Master, we worked all night and caught nothing;but at your word I will let down the net.”6When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.7They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came and filled both boats,so that they began to sink.8But Simon Peter, when he saw it,fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me,for I am a sinful man, Lord.”9For he was amazed, and all who were with him,at the catch of fish which they had caught;10and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive.”

11When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.

EpistleLectio

Lectio prima Sancti Pauli apóstoli ad Thessalonicénses

1 Thess 2:2-8

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Thessalonians

1 Thess. 2:2-8

Brethren: We had confidence in our God to preach to you the gospel of God amid much anxiety. For our exhortation was not from error, nor from impure motives, nor from guile; but, as approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak not as pleasing men, but God, Who proves our hearts. For at no time have we used words of flattery, as you know, nor any pretext for avarice, God is witness, nor have we sought glory from men, neither from you nor from others. Although as the apostles of Christ we could have claimed a position of honor among you, still while in your midst we were as children, as if a nurse were cherishing her own children. So, we, in our love for you, would gladly have imparted to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own souls, because you had become most dear to us.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia Sancti evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 21:15-17

In illo témpore, dicit Jesus Simóni Petro: Simon Joánnis, díligis me plus his? Dicit ei: Etiam Dómine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos. ¶ Dicit ei íterum: Simon Joánnis, díligis me? Ait illi: Etiam Dómine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos. Dicit ei tértio: Simon Joánnis, amas me? Contristátus est Petrus, quia dixit ei tértio: Amas me? et dixit ei: Dómine, tu ómnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te. Dixit ei: Pasce oves meas.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 21:15-17

At that time, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these do? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My lambs. He said to him a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My lambs. And third time He said to him, Simon, son of John, do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him for the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My sheep.

Common

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
