First ReadingActs 20:28-38

From the Acts of the Apostles

28Take heed, therefore,to yourselves and to all the flock,in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers,to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and Godwhich he purchased with his own blood.29For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you,not sparing the flock.30Men will arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things,to draw away the disciples after them.31Therefore watch, rememberingthat for a period of three years I didn’t cease to admonish everyone night and day with tears.32Now, brothers, I entrust you to Godand to the word of his grace, which is able to build upand to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.33I coveted no one’s silver, gold, or clothing.34You yourselves knowthat these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me.35In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said,‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

36When he had spoken these things,he knelt down and prayed with them all.37They all wept freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him,38sorrowing most of allbecause of the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 68:29-30, 33-35a, 35bc-36ab

29Your God has commanded your strength.Strengthen, God, that which you have done for us.30Because of your temple at Jerusalem, kings will bring presents to you.

33Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth!Sing praises to the Lord34to him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which are of old;behold, he utters his voice, a mighty voice.35Ascribe strength to God!

35His excellency is over Israel, his strength is in the skies.36You are awesome, God, in your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people.Praise be to God!

GospelJohn 17:11b-19

From the Gospel according to John

11I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to you.Holy Father, keep them through your namewhich you have given me,that they may be one, even as we are.12While I was with them in the world,I kept them in your name.I have kept those whom you have given me.None of them is lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.13But now I come to you,and I say these things in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.14I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.15I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.17Sanctify them in your truth.Your word is truth.18As you sent me into the world, even so I have sent them into the world.19For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

Eccli 31:8-11

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Sir 31:8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum.

Matt 18:1-5

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 18:1-5

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child to him, set him their midst, and said, Amen I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whoever, therefore, humbles himself as this little child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such little child for My sake, receives Me.

PrefacePrefatio

Ascension

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: through Christ our Lord. Who, after His Resurrection, appeared openly to all His disciples, and, while they looked on, was taken up into heaven, that He might grant unto us to be sharers in His own divinity. And therefore, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
