1The Lord says:

“Maintain justiceand do what is right,for my salvation is nearand my righteousness will soon be revealed.· · · verses 2–5 are not read6Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lordto serve him,and to love the Lord’s name,to be his servants,everyone who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it,and holds fast my covenant,7I will bring these to my holy mountain,and make them joyful in my house of prayer.Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar;for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”

2May God be merciful to us, bless us,and cause his face to shine on us.3That your way may be known on earth,and your salvation among all nations,

5Oh let the nations be glad and sing for joy,for you will judge the peoples with equity,and govern the nations on earth.

6Let the peoples praise you, God.Let all the peoples praise you.

8God will bless us.All the ends of the earth shall fear him.

13For I speak to you who are Gentiles.Since then as I am an apostle to Gentiles,I glorify my ministry,14if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh,and may save some of them.15For if the rejection of them is the reconciling of the world,what would their acceptance be,but life from the dead?· · · verses 16–28 are not read29For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.30For as you in time past were disobedient to God,but now have obtained mercy by their disobedience,31even so these also have now been disobedient,that by the mercy shown to you they may also obtain mercy.32For God has bound all to disobedience,that he might have mercy on all.

21Jesus went out from thereand withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.22Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried,saying, “Have mercy on me,Lord, you son of David!My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”

23But he answered her not a word.

His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away;for she cries after us.”

24But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyonebut the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

25But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”

26But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s breadand throw it to the dogs.”

27But she said, “Yes,Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbswhich fall from their masters’ table.”

28Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith!Be it done to you even as you desire.”And her daughter was healed from that hour.
