First ReadingJeremiah 15:10, 16-21

From the Book of Jeremiah

10Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife, and a man of contention to the whole earth!I have not lent, neither have men lent to me;yet every one of them curses me. verses 11–15 are not read16Your words were found, and I ate them.Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, Lord, God of Armies.17I didn’t sit in the assembly of those who make merry and rejoice.I sat alone because of your hand, for you have filled me with indignation.18Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?

19Therefore the Lord says,

“If you return, then I will bring you again, that you may stand before me;and if you take out the precious from the vile, you will be as my mouth. They will return to you,but you will not return to them.20I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall. They will fight against you,but they will not prevail against you;for I am with you to save youand to deliver you,” says the Lord.21“I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.”

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 59:2-3, 4, 10-11, 17, 18

2Deliver me from my enemies, my God.Set me on high from those who rise up against me.3Deliver me from the workers of iniquity.Save me from the bloodthirsty men.

4For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me,not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, Lord.

10Oh, my Strength, I watch for you,for God is my high tower.11My God will go before me with his loving kindness.God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.

17But I will sing of your strength.Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower,a refuge in the day of my distress.

18To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

GospelMatthew 13:44-46

From the Gospel according to Matthew

44“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid.In his joy, he goes and sells allthat he has and buys that field.

45“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a manwho is a merchant seeking fine pearls,46who having found one pearl of great price,he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 6:19-23

Quem ergo fructum habuístis tunc in illis, in quibus nunc erubéscitis? Nam finis illórum mors est. Nunc vero liberáti a peccáto, servi autem facti Deo, habétis fructum vestrum in sanctificatiónem, finem vero vitam ætérnam. Stipéndia enim peccáti mors. Grátia autem Dei vita ætérna, in Christo Jesu, Dómino nostro.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 6:19-23

Brethren: I speak in a human way because of the weakness of your flesh; for as you yielded your members as slaves of uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity, so now yield your members as slaves of justice unto sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free as regards justice. But what fruit had you then from those things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of these things is death. But now set free from sin and become slaves to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and as your end, life everlasting. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is life everlasting in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ps 46:2

Ps 33:12, 6

℣.Look to Him that you may be radiant with joy, and your faces may not blush with shame. Alleluia, alleluia.

Ps 46:2

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 7:15-21

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 7:15-21

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will know them. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father in heaven shall enter the kingdom of heaven.

Dan 3:40

Sicut in holocáustis aríetum et taurórum, et sicut in mílibus agnórum pínguium: sic fiat sacrifícium nostrum in conspéctu tuo hódie, ut pláceat tibi: quia non est confúsio confidéntibus in te, Dómine.

Dan 3:40

As though it were holocausts of rams and bullocks, or thousands of fat lambs, so let our sacrifice be in Your presence today, that it may please You; for those who trust in You cannot be put to shame, O Lord.

O God, You Who have given us in one perfect sacrifice the fulfillment of the various sacrifices made under the Old Law, accept these sacrificial gifts offered You by Your devoted servants, and make them holy as You did the gifts of Abel, so that what each one of us has offered in praise of Your majesty may profit for the salvation of all.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
