First ReadingMicah 5:1-4a

From the Book of Micah

1But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me who is to be ruler in Israel;whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.2Therefore he will abandon them until the time that she who is in labor gives birth. Then the rest of his brothers will return to the children of Israel.3He shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of the Lord,in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.They will live, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth.4He will be our peace when Assyria invades our landand when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19

2Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine out.3Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, stir up your might!Come to save us!

15Turn again, we beg you, God of Armies.Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,16the stock which your right hand planted, the branch that you made strong for yourself.

18Let your hand be on the man of your right hand,on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.19So we will not turn away from you.Revive us, and we will call on your name.

Second ReadingHebrews 10:5-10

From the Letter to the Hebrews

5Therefore when he comes into the world, he says,

“You didn’t desire sacrifice and offering, but you prepared a body for me.6You had no pleasure in whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin.7Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (in the scroll of the book it is written of me)to do your will, O God.’”

8Previously saying,“Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offeringsand sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (thosewhich are offered according to the law),9then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will.”He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,10by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

GospelLuke 1:39-45

From the Gospel according to Luke

39Mary arose in those daysand went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,40and entered into the house of Zachariasand greeted Elizabeth.41When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb;and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.42She called out with a loud voice and said,“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!43Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?44For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy!45Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the thingswhich have been spoken to her from the Lord!”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

1 Cor 4:1-5

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor. 4:1-5

Brethren: Let a man so account us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Now here it is required in stewards that a man be found trustworthy. But with me it is a very small matter to be judged by you or by man’s tribunal. Nay I do not even judge my own self. For I have nothing on my conscience, yet I am not thereby justified; but he who judges me is the Lord. Therefore, pass no judgment before the time, until the Lord comes, Who will both bring to light the things hidden in darkness and make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then everyone will have his praise from God.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 3:1-6

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of the district of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zachary, in the desert. And he went into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of Isaias the prophet. The voice of one crying in the desert, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord, make straight His paths. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth; and all mankind shall see the salvation of God.’

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
