First ReadingActs 9:26-31

From the Acts of the Apostles

26When Saul had come to Jerusalem,he tried to join himself to the disciples;but they were all afraid of him,not believing that he was a disciple.27But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the way,and that he had spoken to him,and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.28He was with them entering into Jerusalem,29preaching boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus. He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, but they were seeking to kill him.30When the brothers knew it,they brought him down to Caesareaand sent him off to Tarsus.

31So the assemblies throughout all Judea,Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were built up.They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lordand in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 22:26-27, 28, 30, 31-32

26My praise of you comes in the great assembly.I will pay my vows before those who fear him.27The humble shall eat and be satisfied. They shall praise the Lord who seek after him.Let your hearts live forever.

28All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.

30All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, even he who can’t keep his soul alive.

31Posterity shall serve him.Future generations shall be told about the Lord.32They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, for he has done it.

Second Reading1 John 3:18-24

From the First Letter of John

18My little children, let’s not love in word only,or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.19And by this we know that we are of the truthand persuade our hearts before him,20because if our heart condemns us,God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.21Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us,we have boldness toward God;22so whatever we ask,we receive from him, because we keep his commandmentsand do the things that are pleasing in his sight.23This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son,Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded.24He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him.By this we know that he remains in us,by the Spirit which he gave us.

GospelJohn 15:1-8

From the Gospel according to John

1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.2Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away.Every branch that bears fruit,he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.3You are already pruned cleanbecause of the word which I have spoken to you.4Remain in me, and I in you.As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine,so neither can you, unless you remain in me.5I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.6If a man doesn’t remain in me,he is thrown out as a branch and is withered;and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.7If you remain in me,and my words remain in you,you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

8“In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit;and so you will be my disciples.

O God, of Whom it cometh that the minds of thy faithful people be all of one will, grant unto the same thy people that they may love the thing which Thou commandest, and desire that which Thou dost promise, that so, amid the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Jacóbi Apóstoli

Jas 1:17-21

Lesson from the letter of St. James the Apostle

Jas 1:17-21

Dearly beloved: Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration. For of his own will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of his creatures. You know, my dearest brethren. And let every man be swift to hear, but slow to speak, and slow to anger. For the anger of man worketh not the justice of God. Wherefore casting away all uncleanness, and abundance of naughtiness, with meekness receive the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Ps 117:16

Rom 6:9

Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dieth now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him. Alleluia.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 16:5-14

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 16:5-14

At that time: Jesus said to His disciples: I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou? But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart. But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go: for if I go not, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment. Of sin: because they believed not in me. And of justice: because I go to the Father; and you shall see me no longer. And of judgment: because the prince of this world is already judged. I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now. But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you. He shall glorify me; because he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it to you.

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
