First ReadingDaniel 7:15-27

From the Book of Daniel

15“As for me, Daniel,my spirit was grieved within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.16I came near to one of those who stood by,and asked him the truth concerning all this.

“So he told me,and made me know the interpretation of the things.17‘These great animals, which are four, are four kings, who will arise out of the earth.18But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’

19“Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth animal, which was different from all of them, exceedingly terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of bronze;which devoured, broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet;20and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up,and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke great things, whose look was more stout than its fellows.21I saw, and the same horn made war with the saintsand prevailed against them22until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

23“So he said, ‘The fourth animal will be a fourth kingdom on earth, which will be different from all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will tread it down, and break it in pieces.24As for the ten horns, ten kings will arise out of this kingdom.Another will arise after them;and he will be different from the former, and he will put down three kings.25He will speak words against the Most High, and will wear out the saints of the Most High.He will plan to change the times and the law;and they will be given into his hand until a timeand times and half a time.

26“‘But the judgment will be set,and they will take away his dominion,to consume and to destroy it to the end.27The kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole sky, will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions will serve and obey him.’

Responsorial PsalmDaniel 3:82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87

From the Book of Daniel

82O you children of men, bless the Lord!Praise and exalt him above all forever!

83O let Israel bless the Lord!Praise and exalt him above all forever.

84O you priests of the Lord, bless the Lord!Praise and exalt him above all forever!

85O you servants of the Lord, bless the Lord!Praise and exalt him above all forever!

86O you spirits and souls of the righteous, bless the Lord!Praise and exalt him above all forever!

87O you who are holy and humble of heart, bless the Lord!Praise and exalt him above all forever!

GospelLuke 21:34-36

From the Gospel according to Luke

34“So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.35For it will come like a snare on all thosewho dwell on the surface of all the earth.36Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Eccli 45:1-6

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Ecclus 45:1-6

Beloved of God and men, whose memory is held in benediction. He made him like the Saints in glory, and magnified him in the fear of his enemies, and with his words He made prodigies to cease. He glorified him in the sight of kings, and gave him Commandments in the sight of his people, and revealed to him His glory. He sanctified him in his faith and meekness, and chose him out of all flesh. For He heard him and his voice, and brought him into a cloud. And, face to face, He gave him the Commandments, the law of life and understanding.

Matt 19:27-29

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 19:27-29.

At that time, Peter said to Jesus, Behold, we have left all and followed You; what then shall we have? And Jesus said to them, Amen I say to you that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.
