First ReadingExodus 14:21—15:1

From the Book of Exodus

21Moses stretched out his hand over the sea,and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.22The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground;and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.23The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea:all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.24In the morning watch, the Lord looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army.25He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily;so that the Egyptians said,“Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians!”

26The Lord said to Moses,“Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians,on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”27Moses stretched out his hand over the sea,and the sea returned to its strengthwhen the morning appeared;and the Egyptians fled against it.The Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.28The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s armythat went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.29But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea,and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.30Thus the Lord saved Israelthat day out of the hand of the Egyptians;and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.31Israel saw the great workwhich the Lord did to the Egyptians, and the people feared the Lord;and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

1Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and said,

“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously. He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea.

Responsorial PsalmExodus 15:8-9, 10 and 12, 17

From the Book of Exodus

8With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up.The floods stood upright as a heap. The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.9The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder. My desire will be satisfied on them.I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’

10You blew with your wind. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.12You stretched out your right hand. The earth swallowed them.

17You will bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance, the place, Lord, which you have made for yourself to dwell in:the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have established.

GospelMatthew 12:46-50

From the Gospel according to Matthew

46While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him.47One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.”

48But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother?Who are my brothers?”49He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold,my mother and my brothers!50For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven,he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

1 Cor 4:9-14

Lesson from the first letter of St Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor. 4:9-14

Brethren: We have been made a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, but we are without honor! To this very hour we hunger and thirst, and we are naked and buffeted, and have no fixed abode. And we toil, working with our own hands. We are reviled and we bless, we are persecuted and we bear with it, we are maligned and we entreat, we have become as the refuse of this world, the offscouring of all, even until now! I write these things not to put you to shame, but to admonish you as my dearest children, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 10:1-9

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 10:1-9

At that time, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them forth two by two before Him into every town and place where He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest. Go. Behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry neither purse, nor wallet, nor sandals, and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if a son of peace be there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they have; for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. And whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you, and cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’

O Lord, in Your strength the just man is glad; in Your victory how greatly he rejoices! You have granted him his heart’s desire.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
