First ReadingIsaiah 66:10-14c

From the Book of Isaiah

10“Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her.Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her;11that you may nurse and be satisfied at the comforting breasts;that you may drink deeply, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.”12For the Lord says, “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream, and you will nurse. You will be carried on her side, and will be dandled on her knees.13As one whom his mother comforts,so I will comfort you.You will be comforted in Jerusalem.”14You will see it, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones will flourish like the tender grass. The Lord’s hand will be known among his servants;and he will have indignation against his enemies.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 66:1-3a, 4-5, 6-7a, 16 and 20*

1Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!2Sing to the glory of his name!Offer glory and praise!3Tell God, “How awesome are your deeds!Through the greatness of your power, your enemies submit themselves to you.

4All the earth will worship you,and will sing to you;they will sing to your name.”5Come, and see God’s deeds—awesome work on behalf of the children of men.

6He turned the sea into dry land. They went through the river on foot. There, we rejoiced in him.7He rules by his might forever. His eyes watch the nations.Don’t let the rebellious rise up against him.

16Come and hear, all you who fear God.I will declare what he has done for my soul.20Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor his loving kindness from me.

Second ReadingGalatians 6:14-18

From the Letter of Paul to the Galatians

14But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me,and I to the world.15For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.16As many as walk by this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on God’s Israel.

17From now on, let no one cause me any trouble, for I bear the marks of the Lord Jesus branded on my body.

18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.

GospelLuke 10:1-12, 17-20

From the Gospel according to Luke

or Luke 10:1-9

1Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every cityand place where he was about to come.2Then he said to them,“The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few.Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.3Go your ways.Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.4Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals.Greet no one on the way.5Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’6If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him;but if not, it will return to you.7Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages.Don’t go from house to house.8Into whatever city you enter and they receive you,eat the things that are set before you.9Heal the sick who are there and tell them,‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’10But into whatever city you enterand they don’t receive you,go out into its streets and say,11‘Even the dust from your city that clings to us,we wipe off against you.Nevertheless know this, that God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’12I tell you, it will be more tolerable inthat day for Sodom than for that city.

verses 13–16 are not read17The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”

18He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.19Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.Nothing will in any way hurt you.20Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you,but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 8:12-17

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 8:12-17

Brethren: We are debtors, not to the flesh, that we should live according to the flesh, for if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live. For whoever are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Now you have not received a spirit of bondage so as to be again in fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons, by virtue of which we cry, Abba! Father! The Spirit Himself gives testimony to our spirit that we are sons of God. But if we are sons, we are heirs also: heirs indeed of God and joint heirs with Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 16:1-9

Ait autem víllicus intra se: Quid fáciam, quia dóminus meus aufert a me villicatiónem? fódere non váleo, mendicáre erubésco. Scio, quid fáciam, ut, cum amótus fúero a villicatióne, recípiant me in domos suas. Convocátis itaque síngulis debitóribus dómini sui, dicébat primo: Quantum debes dómino meo? At ille dixit: Centum cados ólei.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 16:1-9

At that time, Jesus spoke to His disciples this parable: There was a certain rich man who had a steward, who was reported to him as squandering his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear of you? Make an accounting of your stewardship, for you can be steward no longer.’ And the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do, seeing that my master is taking away the stewardship from me? To dig I am not able; to beg I am ashamed. I know what I shall do, that when I am removed from my stewardship they may receive me into their houses.’ And he summoned each of his master’s debtors and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ And he said, ‘A hundred jars of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bond and sit down at once and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred kors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bond and write eighty.’ And the master commended the unjust steward, in that he had acted prudently; for the children of this world, in relation to their own generation, are more prudent than the children of the light. And I say to you, make friends for yourselves with the mammon of wickedness, so that when you fail they may receive you into the everlasting dwellings.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
