First ReadingPhilippians 2:5-11

From the Letter of Paul to the Philippians

5Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,6who, existing in the form of God,didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,7but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.8And being found in human form,he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.9Therefore God also highly exalted him,and gave to him the name which is above every name,10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,11and that every tongue should confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 22:26b-27, 28-30ab, 30e, 31-32

26My praise of you comes in the great assembly.I will pay my vows before those who fear him.27The humble shall eat and be satisfied. They shall praise the Lord who seek after him.Let your hearts live forever.

28All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.29For the kingdom is the Lord’s.He is the ruler over the nations.30All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him,

30even he who can’t keep his soul alive.

31Posterity shall serve him.Future generations shall be told about the Lord.32They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, for he has done it.

GospelLuke 14:15-24

From the Gospel according to Luke

15When one of thosewho sat at the table with him heard these things,he said to him, “Blessed is hewho will feast in God’s Kingdom!”

16But he said to him,“A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.17He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited,‘Come, for everything is ready now.’18They all as one began to make excuses.

“The first said to him,‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it.Please have me excused.’

19“Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.’

20“Another said, ‘I have married a wife,and therefore I can’t come.’

21“That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant,‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.’

22“The servant said,‘Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.’

23“The lord said to the servant,‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in,that my house may be filled.24For I tell you that none of those menwho were invited will taste of my supper. For many are called, but few are chosen.’”

CollectOratio

Deus, qui nos, in tantis perículis constitútos, pro humána scis fragilitáte non posse subsístere: da nobis salútem mentis et córporis; ut ea, quæ pro peccátis nostris pátimur, te adjuvánte vincámus.

Per Dominum…

O God, You Who know that our human frailty cannot stand fast against the great dangers that beset us, grant us health of mind and body, that with your help we may overcome what we suffer on account of our sins.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános.

Rom 13:8-10

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 13:8-10

Brethren: Owe no man anything except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law. For You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not covet; and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the Law.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum.

Matt 8:23-27

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew

Matt 8:23-27

At that time, Jesus got into a boat, and His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was covered by the waves; but He was asleep. So they came and woke Him, saying, Lord, save us! we are perishing! But He said to them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the sea, and there came a great calm. And the men marvelled, saying, What manner of Man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?

Common

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
