First ReadingIsaiah 58:7-10

From the Book of Isaiah

7Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry,and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house?When you see the naked,that you cover him;and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?8Then your light will break out as the morning,and your healing will appear quickly;then your righteousness shall go before you,and the Lord’s glory will be your rear guard.9Then you will call, and the Lord will answer.You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’“If you take away from among you the yoke,finger pointing,and speaking wickedly;10and if you pour out your soul to the hungry,and satisfy the afflicted soul,then your light will rise in darkness,and your obscurity will be as the noonday;

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 112:4-5, 6-7, 8-9

4Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, gracious, merciful, and righteous.5It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment.

6For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever.7He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

8His heart is established. He will not be afraid in the end when he sees his adversaries.9He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.

Second Reading1 Corinthians 2:1-5

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

1When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.2For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.3I was with you in weakness,in fear, and in much trembling.4My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,5that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men,but in the power of God.

GospelMatthew 5:13-16

From the Gospel according to Matthew

13“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

14“You are the light of the world.A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.15Neither do you light a lampand put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand;and it shines to all who are in the house.16Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good worksand glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

1 Cor 9:24-27; 10:1-5

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor. 9:24-27; 10:1-5

Brethren: Do you not know that those who run in a race, all indeed run, but one receives the prize? So run as to obtain it. And everyone in a contest abstains from all things - and they indeed to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable. I, therefore, so run as not without a purpose; I so fight as not beating the air; but I chastise my body and bring it into subjection, lest perhaps after preaching to others I myself should be rejected. For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, all were baptized in Moses, in the cloud and in the sea. And all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink for they drank from the spiritual rock which followed them, and the rock was Christ. Yet with most of them God was not well pleased.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 20:1-16

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 20:1-16

At that time, Jesus spoke to His disciples this parable: The kingdom of heaven is like a householder who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. And having agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And about the third hour, he went out and saw others standing in the market place idle; and he said to them, ‘Go you also into the vineyard, and I will give you whatever is just.’ So they went. And again he went out about the sixth, and about the ninth hour, and did as before. But about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing about and he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here all day idle?’ They said to him, ‘Because no man has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘Go you also into the vineyard.’ But when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers, and pay them their wages, beginning from the last even to the first.’ Now when they of the eleventh hour came, they received each a denarius. And when the first in their term came, they thought that they would receive more; but they also received each his denarius. And on receiving it, they began to murmur against the householder, saying, ‘These last have worked a single hour, and you have put them on a level with us, who have borne the burden of the day’s heat.’ But answering one of them, he said, ‘Friend, I do you no injustice; did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what is yours and go; I choose to give to this last even as to you. Have I not a right to do what I choose? Or are you envious because I am generous?’ Even so the last shall be first, and the first last; for many are called, but few are chosen.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
