First ReadingGenesis 18:1-10a

From the Book of Genesis

1The Lord appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre,as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.2He lifted up his eyes and looked,and saw that three men stood near him.When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door,and bowed himself to the earth,3and said, “My lord,if now I have found favor in your sight,please don’t go away from your servant.4Now let a little water be fetched,wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.5I will get a piece of bread so you can refresh your heart.After that you may go your way,now that you have come to your servant.”

They said, “Very well, do as you have said.”

6Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah,and said, “Quickly prepare three seahs of fine meal,knead it, and make cakes.”7Abraham ran to the herd,and fetched a tender and good calf,and gave it to the servant.He hurried to dress it.8He took butter, milk,and the calf which he had dressed,and set it before them.He stood by them under the tree, and they ate.

9They asked him, “Where is Sarah, your wife?”

He said, “There, in the tent.”

10He said, “I will certainly return to you at about this time next year;and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.”

Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 15:2, 3-4, 5*

2He who walks blamelessly and does what is right,and speaks truth in his heart;

3he who doesn’t slander with his tongue,nor does evil to his friend,nor casts slurs against his fellow man;4in whose eyes a vile man is despised,but who honors those who fear the Lord;he who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and doesn’t change;

5he who doesn’t lend out his money for usury,nor take a bribe against the innocent.He who does these things shall never be shaken.

Second ReadingColossians 1:24-28

From the Letter of Paul to the Colossians

24Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake,and fill up on my part thatwhich is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake,which is the assembly,25of which I was made a servant according to the stewardship of Godwhich was given me toward you to fulfill the word of God,26the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations.But now it has been revealed to his saints,27to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles,which is Christ in you,the hope of glory.28We proclaim him, admonishing every manand teaching every man in all wisdom,that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus;

GospelLuke 10:38-42

From the Gospel according to Luke

38As they went on their way,he entered into a certain village,and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.39She had a sister called Mary,who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word.40But Martha was distracted with much serving,and she came up to him,and said, “Lord, don’t you carethat my sister left me to serve alone?Ask her therefore to help me.”

41Jesus answered her,“Martha, Martha, you are anxiousand troubled about many things,42but one thing is needed.Mary has chosen the good part,which will not be taken away from her.”

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 8:12-17

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 8:12-17

Brethren: We are debtors, not to the flesh, that we should live according to the flesh, for if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live. For whoever are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Now you have not received a spirit of bondage so as to be again in fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons, by virtue of which we cry, Abba! Father! The Spirit Himself gives testimony to our spirit that we are sons of God. But if we are sons, we are heirs also: heirs indeed of God and joint heirs with Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 16:1-9

Ait autem víllicus intra se: Quid fáciam, quia dóminus meus aufert a me villicatiónem? fódere non váleo, mendicáre erubésco. Scio, quid fáciam, ut, cum amótus fúero a villicatióne, recípiant me in domos suas. Convocátis itaque síngulis debitóribus dómini sui, dicébat primo: Quantum debes dómino meo? At ille dixit: Centum cados ólei.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 16:1-9

At that time, Jesus spoke to His disciples this parable: There was a certain rich man who had a steward, who was reported to him as squandering his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear of you? Make an accounting of your stewardship, for you can be steward no longer.’ And the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do, seeing that my master is taking away the stewardship from me? To dig I am not able; to beg I am ashamed. I know what I shall do, that when I am removed from my stewardship they may receive me into their houses.’ And he summoned each of his master’s debtors and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ And he said, ‘A hundred jars of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bond and sit down at once and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred kors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bond and write eighty.’ And the master commended the unjust steward, in that he had acted prudently; for the children of this world, in relation to their own generation, are more prudent than the children of the light. And I say to you, make friends for yourselves with the mammon of wickedness, so that when you fail they may receive you into the everlasting dwellings.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
