First ReadingActs 13:44-52

From the Acts of the Apostles

44The next Sabbath, almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.45But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the thingswhich were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.

46Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, and said, “It was necessarythat God’s word should be spoken to you first.Since indeed you thrust it from yourselves, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.47For so has the Lord commanded us, saying,

‘I have set you as a light for the Gentiles, that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.’”

48As the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God.As many as were appointed to eternal life believed.49The Lord’s word was spread abroad throughout all the region.50But the Jews stirred up the devoutand prominent women and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their borders.51But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.52The disciples were filled with joyand with the Holy Spirit.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4

1Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

2The Lord has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.3He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.

3All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.4Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

GospelJohn 14:7-14

From the Gospel according to John

7If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him.”

8Philip said to him,“Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

9Jesus said to him,“Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father’?10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself;but the Father who lives in me does his works.11Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me;or else believe me for the very works’ sake.12Most certainly I tell you,he who believes in me,the works that I do, he will do also;and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.13Whatever you will ask in my name,I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Sap 7:7-14

Lesson from the book of Wisdom

Wis 7:7-14.

I prayed, and prudence was given me; I pleaded, and the spirit of Wisdom came to me. I preferred her to scepter and throne, and deemed riches nothing in comparison with her. Nor did I liken any priceless gem to her; because all gold, in view of her, is a little sand, and before her, silver is to be accounted mire. Beyond health and comeliness I loved her, and I chose to have her rather than the light, because the splendor of her never yields to sleep. Yet all good things together came to me in her company, and countless riches at her hands; and I rejoiced in them all, because Wisdom is their leader, though I had not known that she is the mother of these. Simply I learned about her, and ungrudgingly do I share - her riches I do not hide away; for to men she is an unfailing treasure; those who gain this treasure win the friendship of God, to Whom the gifts they have from discipline commend them.

Dan. 12:3

℣.Those who lead the many to justice, shall be like the stars forever. Alleluia.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 5:13-19

In illo témpore: Dixit Jesus discípulis suis: Vos estis sal terræ.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 5:13-19

In that time Jesus said to His disciples: You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

But for me, to be near God is my good; to make the Lord God my refuge. I shall declare all Your works in the gates of the daughter of Sion. Alleluia.

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:

You are the light of the world. Even so, let your light shine before men, in order that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Alleluia.
