First ReadingDeuteronomy 30:10-14*

From the Book of Deuteronomy

10if you will obey the Lord your God’s voice,to keep his commandments and his statuteswhich are written in this book of the law,if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heartand with all your soul.

11For this commandmentwhich I command you today is not too hard for you or too distant.12It is not in heaven, that you should say,“Who will go up for us to heaven, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us,that we may do it?”13Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say,“Who will go over the sea for us,bring it to us, and proclaim it to us,that we may do it?”14But the word is very near to you,in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 69:14, 17, 30-31, 36ab and 37*

14But as for me, my prayer is to you, Lord, in an acceptable time.God, in the abundance of your loving kindness, answer me in the truth of your salvation.

17Answer me, Lord, for your loving kindness is good.According to the multitude of your tender mercies, turn to me.

30But I am in pain and distress.Let your salvation, God, protect me.31I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

36For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it.37The children also of his servants shall inherit it.Those who love his name shall dwell therein.

Second ReadingColossians 1:15-20*

From the Letter of Paul to the Colossians

15He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn of all creation.16For by him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth, visible things and invisible things, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things have been created through him and for him.17He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.18He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence.19For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him,20and through him to reconcile all things to himself by him, whether things on the earth or things in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross.

GospelLuke 10:25-37*

From the Gospel according to Luke

25Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

26He said to him, “What is written in the law?How do you read it?”

27He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind;and your neighbor as yourself.”

28He said to him, “You have answered correctly.Do this, and you will live.”

29But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”

30Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him,and departed, leaving him half dead.31By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.32In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.33But a certain Samaritan,as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,34came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn,and took care of him.35On the next day, when he departed,he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him.Whatever you spend beyond that,I will repay you when I return.’36Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to himwho fell among the robbers?”

37He said, “He who showed mercy on him.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 6:3-11

Fratres: Quicúmque baptizáti sumus in Christo Jesu, in morte ipsíus baptizáti sumus.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 6:3-11.

Brethren: All we who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death. For we were buried with Him by means of Baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ has arisen from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with Him in the likeness of His death, we shall be so in the likeness of His resurrection also. For we know that our old self has been crucified with Him, in order that the body of sin may be destroyed, that we may no longer be slaves to sin; for he who is dead is acquitted of sin. But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live together with Christ; for we know that Christ, having risen from the dead, dies now no more, death shall no longer have dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life that He lives, He lives unto God. Thus do you consider yourselves also as dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Marcum

Marc 8:1-9

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Mark

Mark 8:1-9

At that time, when there was a great crowd with Jesus, and they had nothing to eat, He called His disciples together and said to them, I have compassion on the crowd, for behold, they have now been with Me three days, and have nothing to eat; and if I send them away to their homes fasting, they will faint on the way, for some of them have come from a distance. And His disciples answered Him, How will anyone be able to satisfy these with bread, here in a desert? And He asked them, How many loaves have you? And they said, Seven. And He bade the crowd recline on the ground. Then taking the seven loaves, He gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples to distribute; and they set them before the crowd. And they had a few little fishes; and He blessed them, and ordered them to be distributed. And they ate and were satisfied; and they took up what was left of the fragments, seven baskets. Now those who had eaten were about four thousand. And He dismissed them.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
