From the Acts of the Apostles

25When Peter entered,Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.26But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up!I myself am also a man.”

verses 27–33 are not read34Peter opened his mouth and said,“Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;35but in every nation he who fears himand works righteousness is acceptable to him.

verses 36–43 are not read44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.45They of the circumcision who believed were amazed,as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.46For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God.

Then Peter answered,47“Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”48He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 98:1, 2-3, 3-4

1Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

2The Lord has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.3He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.

3All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.4Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

Second Reading1 John 4:7-10

From the First Letter of John

7Beloved, let’s love one another, for love is of God;and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.8He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.9By this God’s love was revealed in us,that God has sent his only born Son into the worldthat we might live through him.10In this is love, not that we loved God,but that he loved us,and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

GospelJohn 15:9-17

From the Gospel according to John

9Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you.Remain in my love.10If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandmentsand remain in his love.11I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you,and that your joy may be made full.

12“This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.13Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.14You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.15No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father,I have made known to you.16You didn’t choose me,but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain;that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name,he may give it to you.

17“I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Jacóbi Apóstoli

Jas 1:22-27

Lesson from the letter of St James the Apostle

Jas 1:22-27

Dearly beloved: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if a man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass. For he beheld himself, and went his way, and presently forgot what manner of man he was. But he that hath looked into the perfect law of liberty, and hath continued therein, not becoming a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work; this man shall be blessed in his deed. And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joann 16:23-30

Hæc in provérbiis locútus sum vobis.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 16:23-30

In that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Amen, amen I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full. These things I have spoken to you in proverbs. The hour cometh, when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will shew you plainly of the Father. In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I will ask the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and I go to the Father. His disciples say to him: Behold, now thou speakest plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now we know that thou knowest all things, and thou needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

Benedícite, gentes, Dóminum, Deum nostrum, et obaudíte vocem laudis ejus: qui pósuit ánimam meam ad vitam, et non dedit commovéri pedes meos: benedíctus Dóminus, qui non amóvit deprecatiónem meam et misericórdiam suam a me, allelúja.

Ps 65:8-9; 65:20

O bless our God, ye Gentiles: and make the voice of his praise to be heard. Who hath set my soul to live: and hath not suffered my feet to be moved: Blessed be God, who hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me, allelúja.

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
