First ReadingActs 4:32-37

From the Acts of the Apostles

32The multitude of thosewho believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the thingswhich he possessed was his own,but they had all things in common.33With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.Great grace was on them all.34For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,35and laid them at the apostles’ feet;and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need.

36Joses, who by the apostles was also called Barnabas (which is,being interpreted,Son of Encouragement),a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race,37having a field, sold it and brought the moneyand laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 93:1ab, 1cd-2, 5

1The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty!

1The Lord is armed with strength. The world also is established. It can’t be moved.2Your throne is established from long ago.You are from everlasting.

5Your statutes stand firm.Holiness adorns your house,Lord, forever more.

GospelJohn 3:7b-15

From the Gospel according to John

7Don’t marvel that I said to you,‘You must all be born anew.’8The wind blows where it wants to,and you hear its sound, but don’t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

9Nicodemus answered him, “How can these things be?”

10Jesus answered him,“Are you the teacher of Israel, and don’t understand these things?11Most certainly I tell you,we speak that which we knowand testify of that which we have seen, and you don’t receive our witness.12If I told you earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?13No one has ascended into heavenbut he who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven.14As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,15that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Timótheum

1 Tim 5:3-10

Lesson from the first letter of St Paul the Apostle to Timothy

1 Tim. 5:3-10.

Dearly beloved: Honor widows, that are widows indeed. But if any widow have children or grandchildren, let her learn first to govern her own house, and to make a return of duty to her parents: for this is acceptable before God. But she that is a widow indeed and desolate, let her trust in God, and continue in prayers and supplications night and day. For she that liveth in pleasures, is dead while she is living. And this give in charge, that they may be blameless. But if any man have not care of his own, and especially of those of his house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Let a widow be chosen of no less than threescore years of age, who hath been the wife of one husband, having testimony for her good words, if she have brought up children, if she have received to harbor, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have ministered to them that suffer tribulation, if she have diligently followed every good work.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 7:11-16

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 7:11-16

At that time, Jesus went into a city called Naim; and His disciples and a large crowd went with Him. And as He drew near the gate of the town, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large gathering from the town was with her. And the Lord, seeing her, had compassion on her, and said to her, Do not weep. And He went up and touched the stretcher; and the bearers stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise. And he who was dead, sat up, and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother. But fear seized upon all, and they began to glorify God, saying, A great prophet has risen among us, and God has visited His people.

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
