First Reading1 Corinthians 7:25-31

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

25Now concerning virgins,I have no commandment from the Lord, but I give my judgment as onewho has obtained mercy from the Lord to be trustworthy.26Therefore I think thatbecause of the distress that is on us,it’s good for a man to remain as he is.27Are you bound to a wife?Don’t seek to be freed. Are you free from a wife?Don’t seek a wife.28But if you marry, you have not sinned. If a virgin marries, she has not sinned.Yet such will have oppression in the flesh, and I want to spare you.29But I say this, brothers:the time is short. From now on, both thosewho have wives may be as though they had none;30and those who weep, as though they didn’t weep;and those who rejoice, as though they didn’t rejoice;and those who buy, as though they didn’t possess;31and those who use the world,as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 45:11-12, 14-15, 16-17

11Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear.Forget your own people, and also your father’s house.12So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord.

14The princess inside is all glorious. Her clothing is interwoven with gold.15She shall be led to the king in embroidered work. The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to you.

16With gladness and rejoicing they shall be led. They shall enter into the king’s palace.17Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You shall make them princes in all the earth.

GospelLuke 6:20-26

From the Gospel according to Luke

20He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said:

“Blessed are you who are poor, for God’s Kingdom is yours.21Blessed are you who hunger now,for you will be filled.Blessed are you who weep now,for you will laugh.22Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.23Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.24“But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.25Woe to you, you who are full now,for you will be hungry.Woe to you who laugh now,for you will mourn and weep.26Woe, when men speak well of you,for their fathers did the same thing to the false prophets.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Ephésios

Ephes 4:1-6

Fratres: Obsecro vos ego vinctus in Dómino, ut digne ambulétis vocatióne, qua vocáti estis, cum omni humilitáte et mansuetúdine, cum patiéntia, supportántes ínvicem in caritáte, sollíciti serváre unitátem spíritus in vínculo pacis. Eph 4:1-6

Brethren: I, the prisoner in the Lord, exhort you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, careful to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace: one body and one Spirit, even as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of all, Who is above all, and throughout all, and in us all, Who is blessed forever and ever. Amen.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 22:34-46

In his duóbus mandátis univérsa lex pendet et prophétæ. Congregátis autem pharisǽis, interrogávit eos Jesus, dicens: Quid vobis vidétur de Christo? cujus fílius est? Dicunt ei: David. Ait illis: Quómodo ergo David in spíritu vocat eum Dóminum, dicens: Dixit Dóminus Dómino meo, sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimícos tuos scabéllum pedum tuórum? Si ergo David vocat eum Dóminum, quómodo fílius ejus est? Et nemo poterat ei respóndere verbum: neque ausus fuit quisquam ex illa die eum ámplius interrogáre.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 22:34-46

At that time, the Pharisees came to Jesus and one of them, a doctor of the Law, putting Him to the test, asked Him, Master, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets. Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them, saying, What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is He? They said to Him, David’s. He said to them, How then does David in the spirit call Him Lord, saying, The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool?’ If David, therefore, calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son? And no one could answer Him a word; neither did anyone dare from that day forth to ask Him any more questions.

Orávi Deum meum ego Dániel, dicens: Exáudi, Dómine, preces servi tui: illúmina fáciem tuam super sanctuárium tuum: et propítius inténde pópulum istum, super quem invocátum est nomen tuum, Deus.

Dan 9:17-19

I, Daniel, prayed to my God, saying, Hear, O Lord, the prayers of Your servant; show Your face upon Your sanctuary, and favorably look down upon this people, upon whom Your name is invoked, O God.
