First ReadingIsaiah 35:4-7a

From the Book of Isaiah

4Tell those who have a fearful heart, “Be strong!Don’t be afraid!Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.5Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.6Then the lame man will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing;for waters will break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.7The burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water.Grass with reeds and rushes will be in the habitation of jackals, where they lay.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 146:6-7, 8-9, 9-10

6who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them;who keeps truth forever;7who executes justice for the oppressed;who gives food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners.

8The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous.9The Lord preserves the foreigners.

9He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.10The Lord will reign forever;your God, O Zion, to all generations.Praise the Lord!

Second ReadingJames 2:1-5

From the Letter of James

1My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with partiality.2For if a man with a gold ring,in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in,3and you pay special attention to himwho wears the fine clothing and say,“Sit here in a good place;”and you tell the poor man,“Stand there,” or “Sit by my footstool”4haven’t you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?5Listen, my beloved brothers.Didn’t God choose thosewho are poor in this world to be rich in faithand heirs of the Kingdomwhich he promised to those who love him?

GospelMark 7:31-37

From the Gospel according to Mark

31Again he departed from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and came to the sea of Galilee through the middle of the region of Decapolis.32They brought to him one who was deafand had an impediment in his speech. They begged him to lay his hand on him.33He took him aside from the multitude privatelyand put his fingers into his ears;and he spat and touched his tongue.34Looking up to heaven,he sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha!”that is, “Be opened!”35Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke clearly.36He commanded them that they should tell no one,but the more he commanded them,so much the more widely they proclaimed it.37They were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well.He makes even the deaf hear and the mute speak!”

Ephes 4:1-6

Amen.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 22:34-46

In his duóbus mandátis univérsa lex pendet et prophétæ. Congregátis autem pharisǽis, interrogávit eos Jesus, dicens: Quid vobis vidétur de Christo? cujus fílius est? Dicunt ei: David. Ait illis: Quómodo ergo David in spíritu vocat eum Dóminum, dicens: Dixit Dóminus Dómino meo, sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimícos tuos scabéllum pedum tuórum? Si ergo David vocat eum Dóminum, quómodo fílius ejus est? Et nemo poterat ei respóndere verbum: neque ausus fuit quisquam ex illa die eum ámplius interrogáre.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 22:34-46

At that time, the Pharisees came to Jesus and one of them, a doctor of the Law, putting Him to the test, asked Him, Master, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets. Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them, saying, What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is He? They said to Him, David’s. He said to them, How then does David in the spirit call Him Lord, saying, The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool?’ If David, therefore, calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son? And no one could answer Him a word; neither did anyone dare from that day forth to ask Him any more questions.

Dan 9:17; 9:18; 9:19

Orávi Deum meum ego Dániel, dicens: Exáudi, Dómine, preces servi tui: illúmina fáciem tuam super sanctuárium tuum: et propítius inténde pópulum istum, super quem invocátum est nomen tuum, Deus.

Dan 9:17-19

I, Daniel, prayed to my God, saying, Hear, O Lord, the prayers of Your servant; show Your face upon Your sanctuary, and favorably look down upon this people, upon whom Your name is invoked, O God.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:

Ps 75:12-13

Make vows to the Lord, your God, and fulfill them; let all round about Him bring gifts to the terrible Lord Who checks the pride of princes, Who is terrible to the kings of the earth.
