The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Memorial · Ordinary Time · Sunday Cycle C · Psalter Week 2

First ReadingRevelation 14:1-3, 4b-5

From the Book of Revelation

1I saw, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him a number, one hundred forty-four thousand, having his nameand the name of his Father written on their foreheads.2I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of many watersand like the sound of a great thunder. The sound which I heard was likethat of harpists playing on their harps.3They sing a new song before the throneand before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the one hundred forty-four thousand, those who had been redeemed out of the earth.4These are those who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed by Jesus from among men,the first fruits to God and to the Lamb.5In their mouth was found no lie, for they are blameless.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 24:1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6

1The earth is the Lord’s, with its fullness;the world, and those who dwell in it.2For he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods.

3Who may ascend to the Lord’s hill?Who may stand in his holy place?4He who has clean hands and a pure heart;who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.

5He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, righteousness from the God of his salvation.6This is the generation of those who seek Him,who seek your face—even Jacob.

GospelLuke 21:1-4

From the Gospel according to Luke

1He looked up and saw the rich peoplewho were putting their gifts into the treasury.2He saw a certain poor widow casting in two small brass coins.3He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them,4for all these put in gifts for God from their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had to live on.”

Eccli 24:14-16

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Ecclus 24:14-16

Before all ages, in the beginning, He created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be. In the holy Tent I ministered before Him, and in Sion I fixed my abode. Thus in the chosen city He has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain. I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of my God, His heritage, and my abode is in the full assembly of Saints.

Blessed Virgin

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should praise and bless, and proclaim Thee, in the Presentatione of the Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin: Who also conceived Thine only-begotten Son by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, and the glory of her virginity still abiding, gave forth to the world the everlasting Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The Heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with these we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted while we say with lowly praise:

CommunionCommunio
