First Reading2 Corinthians 4:1-2, 5-7

From the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

1Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint.2But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. verses 3–4 are not read5For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake,6seeing it is God who said,“Light will shine out of darkness,”who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of Godand not from ourselves.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 7-8a, 10

1Sing to the Lord a new song!Sing to the Lord, all the earth.2Sing to the Lord!

2Bless his name!Proclaim his salvation from day to day!3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.

7Ascribe to the Lord, you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.8Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name.Bring an offering, and come into his courts.

10Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”The world is also established. It can’t be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.

GospelLuke 22:24-30

From the Gospel according to Luke

24A dispute also arose among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.25He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’26But not so with you.Rather, the one who is greater among you,let him become as the younger, and one who is governing,as one who serves.27For who is greater, one who sits at the table,or one who serves?Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

28“But you are thosewho have continued with me in my trials.29I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,30that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
