First Reading1 Corinthians 15:35-37, 42-49

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

35But someone will say, “How are the dead raised?”and, “With what kind of body do they come?”36You foolish one, thatwhich you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies.37That which you sow,you don’t sow the body that will be,but a bare grain, maybe of wheat,or of some other kind.

verses 38–41 are not read42So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown perishable;it is raised imperishable.43It is sown in dishonor;it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness;it is raised in power.44It is sown a natural body;it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural bodyand there is also a spiritual body.

45So also it is written,“The first man Adam became a living soul.”The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.46However, that which is spiritual isn’t first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual.47The first man is of the earth, made of dust. The second man is the Lord from heaven.48As is the one made of dust, such are those who are also made of dust;and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.49As we have borne the image of those made of dust, let’s also bear the image of the heavenly.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 56:10c-12, 13-14

10Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call.I know this: that God is for me.11In God, I will praise his word.In the Lord, I will praise his word.12I have put my trust in God.I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

13Your vows are on me, God.I will give thank offerings to you.14For you have delivered my soul from death, and prevented my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

GospelLuke 8:4-15

From the Gospel according to Luke

4When a great multitude came togetherand people from every city were coming to him,he spoke by a parable:5“The farmer went out to sow his seed.As he sowed, some fell along the road, and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it.6Some seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew,it withered away, because it had no moisture.7Some fell amid the thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it.8Some fell into the good ground and grewand produced one hundred times as much fruit.”As he said these things,he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

9Then his disciples asked him,“What does this parable mean?”

10He said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of God’s Kingdom, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘seeing they may not see,and hearing they may not understand.’

11“Now the parable is this:The seed is the word of God.12Those along the road are those who hear;then the devil comesand takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.13Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy;but these have no root. They believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation.14What fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life;and they bring no fruit to maturity.15Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.

Eccli 24:14-16

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Ecclus 24:14-16

Before all ages, in the beginning, He created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be. In the holy Tent I ministered before Him, and in Sion I fixed my abode. Thus in the chosen city He has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain. I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of my God, His heritage, and my abode is in the full assembly of Saints.

Blessed Virgin

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should praise and bless, and proclaim Thee, in the veneratióne of the Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin: Who also conceived Thine only-begotten Son by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, and the glory of her virginity still abiding, gave forth to the world the everlasting Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The Heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with these we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted while we say with lowly praise:
