First ReadingZechariah 12:10-11*

From the Book of Zechariah

10I will pour on David’s houseand on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of graceand of supplication. They will look to me whom they have pierced;and they shall mourn for him as one mourns for his only son,and will grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for his firstborn.11In that day there will be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddo.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 63:2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9*

2God, you are my God.I will earnestly seek you.My soul thirsts for you.My flesh longs for you,in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.

3So I have seen you in the sanctuary, watching your power and your glory.4Because your loving kindness is better than life,my lips shall praise you.

5So I will bless you while I live.I will lift up my hands in your name.6My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food.My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,

8For you have been my help.I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.9My soul stays close to you.Your right hand holds me up.

Second ReadingGalatians 3:26-29*

From the Letter of Paul to the Galatians

26For you are all children of God,through faith in Christ Jesus.27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female;for you are all one in Christ Jesus.29If you are Christ’s,then you are Abraham’s offspringand heirs according to promise.

GospelLuke 9:18-24*

From the Gospel according to Luke

18As he was praying alone, the disciples were near him,and he asked them,“Who do the multitudes say that I am?”

19They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’but others say, ‘Elijah,’and others, that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

20He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

21But he warned themand commanded them to tell this to no one,22saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.”

23He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me,let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.24For whoever desires to save his life will lose it,but whoever will lose his life for my sake will save it.

CollectOratio

Protéctor in te sperántium, Deus, sine quo nihil est válidum, nihil sanctum: multíplica super nos misericórdiam tuam; ut, te rectóre, te duce, sic transeámus per bona temporália, ut non amittámus ætérna.

Per Dominum…

O God, protector of all who hope in You, without Whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy, increase Your mercy toward us, that, with Your guidance and direction we may so pass through the things of this temporal life as not to lose those of life eternal.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Petri Apóstoli

1 Pet. 5:6-11

Caríssimi: Humiliámini sub poténti manu Dei, ut vos exáltet in témpore visitatiónis: omnem sollicitúdinem vestram projiciéntes in eum, quóniam ipsi cura est de vobis. Sóbrii estote et vigiláte: quia adversárius vester diábolus tamquam leo rúgiens circuit, quærens, quem dévoret: cui resístite fortes in fide: sciéntes eándem passiónem ei, quæ in mundo est, vestræ fraternitáti fíeri. Deus autem omnis grátiæ, qui vocávit nos in ætérnam suam glóriam in Christo Jesu, módicum passos ipse perfíciet, confirmábit solidabítque. Ipsi glória et impérium in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Lesson from the first letter of St. Peter the Apostle

1 Pet. 5:6-11

Beloved: Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in the time of visitation; cast all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. Be sober, be watchful! For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goes about seeking someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same suffering befalls your brethren all over the world. But the God of all grace, Who has called us unto His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself, after we have suffered a little while, perfect, strengthen and establish us. To Him is the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Ps. 7:12

Deus judex justus, fortis et pátiens, numquid iráscitur per síngulos dies? Allelúja.

Ps. 54:23, 17, 19

Cast your care upon the Lord, and He will support you.

℣.When I called upon the Lord, He heard my voice from those who war against me. Alleluia, alleluia.

Ps 7:12

A just judge is God, strong and patient; is He angry every day? Alleluia.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 15:1-10

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 15:1-10

At that time, the publicans and sinners were drawing near to Him to listen to Him. And the Pharisees and the Scribes murmured, saying, This man welcomes sinners and eats with them. But He spoke to them this parable, saying, What man of you having a hundred sheep, and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it upon his shoulders rejoicing. And on coming home he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.’ I say to you that, even so, there will be joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, more then over ninety-nine just who have no need of repentance. Or what woman, having ten drachmas, if she loses one drachma, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma that I had lost.’ Even so, I say to you, there will be joy among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
