First ReadingIsaiah 4:2-6

From the Book of Isaiah

2In that day, the Lord’s branch will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the beautyand glory of the survivors of Israel.3It will happen that he who is left in Zion and hewho remains in Jerusalem shall be called holy, even everyonewho is written among the living in Jerusalem,4when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from within it,by the spirit of justice and by the spirit of burning.5The Lord will create over the whole habitation of Mount Zionand over her assemblies,a cloud and smoke by day,and the shining of a flaming fire by night, for over all the glory will be a canopy.6There will be a pavilion for a shade in the daytime from the heat, and for a refugeand for a shelter from storm and from rain.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 122:1-2, 3-4b, 4cd-5, 6-7, 8-9

1I was glad when they said to me,“Let’s go to the Lord’s house!”2Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem!

3Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together,4where the tribes go up, even the Lord’s tribes,

4according to an ordinance for Israel,to give thanks to the Lord’s name.5For there are set thrones for judgment, the thrones of David’s house.

6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.7Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.

8For my brothers’ and companions’ sakes,I will now say, “Peace be within you.”9For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,I will seek your good.

GospelMatthew 8:5-11

From the Gospel according to Matthew

5When he came into Capernaum,a centurion came to him, asking him for help,6saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented.”

7Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

8The centurion answered,“Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof.Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.9For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers.I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes;and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes;and tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10When Jesus heard it,he marveled and said to those who followed,“Most certainly I tell you,I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel.11I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham,Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven,

EpistleLectio

Lectio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 13:11-14.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 13:11-14

Brethren: Understand, for it is now the hour for us to rise from sleep, because now our salvation is nearer than when we came to believe. The night is far advanced; the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light. Let us walk becomingly as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in debauchery and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secundum Lucam

Luc 21:25-33.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 21:25-33

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations bewildered by the roaring of sea and waves; men fainting for fear and for expectation of the things that are coming on the world; for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the son of Man coming upon a cloud with great power and majesty. but when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand. And He spoke to them a parable. Behold the fig tree, and all the trees. When they now put forth their buds, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things coming to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near. Amen I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all things have been accomplished. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
