First ReadingProverbs 2:1-9

From the Book of Proverbs

1My son, if you will receive my words,and store up my commandments within you,2so as to turn your ear to wisdom,and apply your heart to understanding;3yes, if you call out for discernment,and lift up your voice for understanding;4if you seek her as silver,and search for her as for hidden treasures;5then you will understand the fear of the Lord,and find the knowledge of God.6For the Lord gives wisdom.Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.7He lays up sound wisdom for the upright.He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,8that he may guard the paths of justice,and preserve the way of his saints.9Then you will understand righteousness and justice,equity and every good path.

2I will bless the Lord at all times.His praise will always be in my mouth.3My soul shall boast in the Lord.The humble shall hear of it and be glad.

4Oh magnify the Lord with me.Let’s exalt his name together.5I sought the Lord, and he answered me,and delivered me from all my fears.

6They looked to him, and were radiant.Their faces shall never be covered with shame.7This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him,and saved him out of all his troubles.

8The Lord’s angel encamps around those who fear him,and delivers them.9Oh taste and see that the Lord is good.Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

27Then Peter answered,“Behold, we have left everything and followed you.What then will we have?”

28Jesus said to them,“Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me,in the regenerationwhen the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory,you also will sit on twelve thrones,judging the twelve tribes of Israel.29Everyone who has left houses,or brothers, or sisters,or father, or mother,or wife, or children,or lands, for my name’s sake,will receive one hundred times,and will inherit eternal life.
