First ReadingEphesians 2:12-22

From the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians

12that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.13But now in Christ Jesus youwho once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.14For he is our peace, who made both one,and broke down the middle wall of separation,15having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace,16and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility through it.17He came and preached peace to youwho were far off and to those who were near.18For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.19So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saintsand of the household of God,20being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;21in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;22in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 85:9ab-10, 11-12, 13-14

9I will hear what God, the Lord, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, his saints;but let them not turn again to folly.10Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

11Mercy and truth meet together.Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.12Truth springs out of the earth.Righteousness has looked down from heaven.

13Yes, the Lord will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase.14Righteousness goes before him,and prepares the way for his steps.

GospelLuke 12:35-38

From the Gospel according to Luke

35“Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.36Be like men watching for their lordwhen he returns from the wedding feast, that when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.37Blessed are those servantswhom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you that he will dress himself, make them recline, and will come and serve them.38They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch and finds them so.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Philippénses

Philipp 3:7-12

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Philippians

Phil 3:7-12

Brethren: The things that were gain to me, these, for the sake of Christ, I have counted loss. Nay more, I count everything loss because of the excelling knowledge of Jesus Christ, my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I count them as dung that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a justice of my own, which is from the Law, but that which is from faith in Christ, the justice from God based upon faith; so that I may know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings: become like to Him in death, in the hope that somehow I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this, or already have been made perfect, but I press on hoping that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has laid hold of me.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 12:32-34

In illo témpore: Dixit Jesus discípulis suis: Nolíte timére, pusíllus grex, quia complácuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:32-34

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Do not be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased your Father to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms. Make for yourselves purses that do not grow old, a treasure unfailing in heaven, where neither thief draws near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

Common

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
