First ReadingWisdom 11:22—12:2

From the Book of Wisdom

22Because the whole world before you is as a grain in a balance, and as a drop of dew that comes down upon the earth in the morning.23But you have mercy on all men, because you have power to do all things, and you overlook the sins of men to the end that they may repent.24For you love all things that are,and abhor none of the things which you made; For you never would have formed anything if you hated it.25How would anything have endured unless you had willed it?Or that which was not called by you, how would it have been preserved?26But you spare all things, because they are yours,O Sovereign Lord, you who love the living.1For your incorruptible spirit is in all things.2Therefore you convict little by little those who fall from the right way, and, putting them in remembrance by the things wherein they sin, you admonish them, that escaping from their wickedness they may believe in you, O Lord.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 145:1-2, 8-9, 10-11, 13cd-14*

1I will exalt you, my God, the King.I will praise your name forever and ever.2Every day I will praise you.I will extol your name forever and ever.

8The Lord is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving kindness.9The Lord is good to all.His tender mercies are over all his works.

10All your works will give thanks to you, Lord.Your saints will extol you.11They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power,

13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.Your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.14The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.

Second Reading2 Thessalonians 1:11—2:2

From the Second Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians

11To this end we also pray always for youthat our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodnessand work of faith with power,12that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you,and you in him, according to the grace of our Godand the Lord Jesus Christ.

1Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christand our gathering together to him, we ask you2not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter as if from us,saying that the day of Christ has already come.

GospelLuke 19:1-10

From the Gospel according to Luke

1He entered and was passing through Jericho.2There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.3He was trying to see who Jesus was,and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.4He ran on aheadand climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him,for he was going to pass that way.5When Jesus came to the place,he looked up and saw him,and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”6He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.7When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”

8Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord,“Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor.If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone,I restore four times as much.”

9Jesus said to him,“Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.10For the Son of Man came to seekand to save that which was lost.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános.

Rom 13:8-10

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 13:8-10

Brethren: Owe no man anything except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law. For You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not covet; and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the Law.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum.

Matt 8:23-27

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew

Matt 8:23-27

At that time, Jesus got into a boat, and His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was covered by the waves; but He was asleep. So they came and woke Him, saying, Lord, save us! we are perishing! But He said to them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the sea, and there came a great calm. And the men marvelled, saying, What manner of Man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
