First ReadingJeremiah 23:1-6

From the Book of Jeremiah

1“Woe to the shepherds who destroyand scatter the sheep of my pasture!”says the Lord.2Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, says against the shepherds who feed my people:“You have scattered my flock, driven them away, and have not visited them.Behold, I will visit on you the evil of your doings,” says the Lord.3“I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds;and they will be fruitful and multiply.4I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them. They will no longer be afraid or dismayed, neither will any be lacking,” says the Lord.

5“Behold, the days come,” says the Lord,“that I will raise to David a righteous Branch;and he will reign as king and deal wisely, and will execute justice and righteousness in the land.6In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called:The Lord our righteousness.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 23:1-3, 3-4, 5, 6

1The Lord is my shepherd;I shall lack nothing.2He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.3He restores my soul.

3He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil, for you are with me.Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before mein the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil.My cup runs over.

6Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the Lord’s house forever.

Second ReadingEphesians 2:13-18

From the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians

13But now in Christ Jesus youwho once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.14For he is our peace, who made both one,and broke down the middle wall of separation,15having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace,16and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility through it.17He came and preached peace to youwho were far off and to those who were near.18For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

GospelMark 6:30-34

From the Gospel according to Mark

30The apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.31He said to them, “Come away into a deserted place, and rest awhile.”For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.32They went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.33They saw them going, and many recognized himand ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to him.34Jesus came out, saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on thembecause they were like sheep without a shepherd;and he began to teach them many things.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 8:12-17

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 8:12-17

Brethren: We are debtors, not to the flesh, that we should live according to the flesh, for if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live. For whoever are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Now you have not received a spirit of bondage so as to be again in fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons, by virtue of which we cry, Abba! Father! The Spirit Himself gives testimony to our spirit that we are sons of God. But if we are sons, we are heirs also: heirs indeed of God and joint heirs with Christ.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 16:1-9

Ait autem víllicus intra se: Quid fáciam, quia dóminus meus aufert a me villicatiónem? fódere non váleo, mendicáre erubésco. Scio, quid fáciam, ut, cum amótus fúero a villicatióne, recípiant me in domos suas. Convocátis itaque síngulis debitóribus dómini sui, dicébat primo: Quantum debes dómino meo? At ille dixit: Centum cados ólei.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 16:1-9

At that time, Jesus spoke to His disciples this parable: There was a certain rich man who had a steward, who was reported to him as squandering his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear of you? Make an accounting of your stewardship, for you can be steward no longer.’ And the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do, seeing that my master is taking away the stewardship from me? To dig I am not able; to beg I am ashamed. I know what I shall do, that when I am removed from my stewardship they may receive me into their houses.’ And he summoned each of his master’s debtors and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ And he said, ‘A hundred jars of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bond and sit down at once and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred kors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bond and write eighty.’ And the master commended the unjust steward, in that he had acted prudently; for the children of this world, in relation to their own generation, are more prudent than the children of the light. And I say to you, make friends for yourselves with the mammon of wickedness, so that when you fail they may receive you into the everlasting dwellings.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
