First ReadingEzekiel 12:1-12

From the Book of Ezekiel

1The Lord’s word also came to me, saying,2“Son of man, you dwell in the middle of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see,and don’t see, who have ears to hear, and don’t hear;for they are a rebellious house.

3“Therefore, you son of man, prepare your baggage for moving, and move by day in their sight. You shall move from your place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house.4You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight,as baggage for moving. You shall go out yourself at evening in their sight,as when men go out into exile.5Dig through the wall in their sight, and carry your baggage out that way.6In their sight you shall bear it on your shoulder, and carry it out in the dark. You shall cover your face,so that you don’t see the land, for I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel.”

7I did so as I was commanded.I brought out my baggage by day,as baggage for moving, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand.I brought it out in the dark, and bore it on my shoulder in their sight.

8In the morning, the Lord’s word came to me, saying,9“Son of man, hasn’t the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘What are you doing?’

10“Say to them, ‘The Lord GOD says:“This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel among whom they are.”’

11“Say, ‘I am your sign.As I have done, so will it be done to them. They will go into exile, into captivity.

12“‘The princewho is among them will bear his baggage on his shoulder in the dark, and will go out. They will dig through the wall to carry things out that way.He will cover his face, because he will not see the land with his eyes.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 78:56-57, 58-59, 61-62

56Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God,and didn’t keep his testimonies,57but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were twisted like a deceitful bow.

58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.59When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel,

61and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand.62He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.

GospelMatthew 18:21—19:1

From the Gospel according to Matthew

21Then Peter came and said to him,“Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me,and I forgive him?Until seven times?”

22Jesus said to him,“I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.23Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain kingwho wanted to settle accounts with his servants.24When he had begun to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.25But because he couldn’t pay,his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had,and payment to be made.26The servant therefore fell down and knelt before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me,and I will repay you all!’27The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him and forgave him the debt.

28“But that servant went outand found one of his fellow servantswho owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’

29“So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me,and I will repay you!’30He would not, but wentand cast him into prison until he should pay back that which was due.31So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told their lord all that was done.32Then his lord called him in and said to him,‘You wicked servant!I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.33Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?’34His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay allthat was due to him.35So my heavenly Father will also do to you,if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds.”

1When Jesus had finished these words,he departed from Galileeand came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

2 Cor 3:4-9

Lesson from the second letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

2 Cor. 3:4-9

Brethren: Such is the assurance I have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything, as from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God. He also it is Who has made us fit ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the spirit; for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. Now if the ministration of death, which was engraved in letters upon stones, was inaugurated in such glory that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly upon the face of Moses on account of the transient glory that shone upon it, shall not the ministration of the spirit be still more glorious? For if there is glory in the ministration that condemned, much more does the ministration that justifies abound in glory.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 10:23-37

At ille dixit: Qui fecit misericórdiam in illum. Et ait illi Jesus: Vade, et tu fac simíliter.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 10:23-37

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I say to you, many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and they have not seen it; and to hear what you hear, and they have not heard it. And behold, a certain lawyer got up to test Him, saying, Master, what must I do to gain eternal life? But He said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read? He answered and said, You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole strength, and with your whole mind; and your neighbor as yourself. And He said to him, You have answered rightly; do this and you shall live. But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor? Jesus answered and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell in with robbers, who after both stripping him and beating him went their way, leaving him half-dead. But, as it happened, a certain priest was going down the same way; and when he saw him, he passed by. And likewise a Levite also, when he was near the place and saw him, passed by. But a certain Samaritan as he journeyed came upon him, and seeing him, was moved with compassion. And he went up to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And setting him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I, on my way back, will repay you.’ Which of these three, in your opinion, proved himself neighbor to him who fell among the robbers? And he said, He who took pity on him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do also in like manner.

Exod 32:11 32:13; 32:14

Moses prayed in the sight of the Lord his God and said, Why, O Lord, is Your indignation enkindled against Your people? Let the anger of Your mind cease; remember Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to whom You swore to give a land flowing with milk and honey. And the Lord was appeased from doing the evil which He had spoken of doing against His people.
