First ReadingGalatians 1:13-24

From the Letter of Paul to the Galatians

13For you have heard of my way of living in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the assembly of God and ravaged it.14I advanced in the Jews’ religion beyond many of my own age among my countrymen, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.15But when it was the good pleasure of God,who separated me from my mother’s womband called me through his grace,16to reveal his Son in me,that I might preach him among the Gentiles,I didn’t immediately confer with flesh and blood,17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to thosewho were apostles before me,but I went away into Arabia. Then I returned to Damascus.

18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days.19But of the other apostles I saw no one except James, the Lord’s brother.20Now about the things which I write to you, behold, before God, I’m not lying.21Then I came to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.22I was still unknown by face to the assemblies of Judeawhich were in Christ,23but they only heard,“He who once persecuted us now preaches the faiththat he once tried to destroy.”24So they glorified God in me.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 139:1b-3, 13-14ab, 14c-15

1Lord, you have searched me,and you know me.2You know my sitting down and my rising up.You perceive my thoughts from afar.3You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

13For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.14I will give thanks to you,for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Your works are wonderful.

14My soul knows that very well.15My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

GospelLuke 10:38-42

From the Gospel according to Luke

38As they went on their way,he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.39She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word.40But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him,and said, “Lord, don’t you carethat my sister left me to serve alone?Ask her therefore to help me.”

41Jesus answered her,“Martha, Martha, you are anxiousand troubled about many things,42but one thing is needed.Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Eccli 31:8-11

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Sir 31:8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

Ps 91:13; 91:14

Ja 1:12

Beátus vir, qui suffert tentatiónem: quóniam, cum probátus fúerit, accípiet corónam vitæ. Allelúja.

Ps 91:13; 91:14

The just man shall flourish like the palm tree, like a cedar of Lebanon shall he grow in the house of the Lord.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 12:35-40

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:35-40

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.
