First ReadingEphesians 1:15-23

From the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians

15For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among youand the love which you have toward all the saints,16don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdomand revelation in the knowledge of him,18having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,19and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might20which he worked in Christ when he raised him from the deadand made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,21far above all rule, authority, power, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age,but also in that which is to come.22He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly,23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 8:2-3ab, 4-5, 6-7

2Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens!3From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.

4When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained,5what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?

6For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor.7You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet:

GospelLuke 12:8-12

From the Gospel according to Luke

8“I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men,the Son of Man will also confess before the angels of God;9but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of God’s angels.10Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.11When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer or what you will say;12for the Holy Spirit will teach you inthat same hour what you must say.”

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Philippénses

Philipp 3:7-12

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Philippians

Phil 3:7-12

Brethren: The things that were gain to me, these, for the sake of Christ, I have counted loss. Nay more, I count everything loss because of the excelling knowledge of Jesus Christ, my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I count them as dung that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a justice of my own, which is from the Law, but that which is from faith in Christ, the justice from God based upon faith; so that I may know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings: become like to Him in death, in the hope that somehow I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this, or already have been made perfect, but I press on hoping that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has laid hold of me.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 12:32-34

In illo témpore: Dixit Jesus discípulis suis: Nolíte timére, pusíllus grex, quia complácuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:32-34

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Do not be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased your Father to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms. Make for yourselves purses that do not grow old, a treasure unfailing in heaven, where neither thief draws near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

Common

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
