First ReadingHebrews 11:2; 12:1-4, 15; 13:1

From the Letter to the Hebrews

2For by this, the elders obtained approval.

some verses are not read1Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sinwhich so easily entangles us,and let’s run with perseverance the racethat is set before us,2looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3For consider himwho has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.4You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin. verses 5–14 are not read15looking carefully lest there be any manwho falls short of the grace of God,lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble youand many be defiled by it,

some verses are not read1Let brotherly love continue.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 126:1-2ab, 2cd-3, 4-5, 6

1When the Lord brought back those who returned to Zion,we were like those who dream.2Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing.

2Then they said among the nations,“The Lord has done great things for them.”3The Lord has done great things for us,and we are glad.

4Restore our fortunes again, Lord, like the streams in the Negev.5Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.

6He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.

GospelLuke 6:20-26

From the Gospel according to Luke

20He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said:

“Blessed are you who are poor, for God’s Kingdom is yours.21Blessed are you who hunger now,for you will be filled.Blessed are you who weep now,for you will laugh.22Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.23Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.24“But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.25Woe to you, you who are full now,for you will be hungry.Woe to you who laugh now,for you will mourn and weep.26Woe, when men speak well of you,for their fathers did the same thing to the false prophets.

Lectio Epistolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Ephésios

Ephes 6:10-17

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians

Eph 6:10-17

Brethren: Be strengthened in the Lord and in the might of His power. Put on the armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the Principalities and the Powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness on high. Therefore, take up the armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and stand in all things perfect. Stand, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breast-plate of justice, and having your feet shod with the readiness of the Gospel of peace, in all things taking up the shield of faith, with which you may be able to quench all the fiery darts of the most wicked one. And take unto you the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, that is, the word of God.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 18:23-35

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 18:23-35

At that time, Jesus spoke to His disciples this parable: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king who desired to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun the settlement, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And as he had no means of paying, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. But the servant fell down and besought him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will pay you all!’ And moved with compassion, the master of that servant released him, and forgave him the debt. But as that servant went out, he met one of his fellow-servants who owed him a hundred denarii and he laid hold of him, and throttled him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ His fellow-servant therefore fell down and began to entreat him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will pay you all.’ But he would not; but went away and cast him into prison until he should pay what was due. His fellow-servants therefore, seeing what had happened, were very much saddened, and they went and informed their master of what had taken place. Then his master called him, and said to him, ‘Wicked servant! I forgave you all the debt, because you entreated me. Should not you also have had pity on your fellow-servant, even as I had pity on you?’ And his master, being angry, handed him over to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So also My heavenly Father will do to you, if you do not each forgive your brothers from your hearts.

Job 1.1

Job 1.1

There was a man in the land of Hus, whose name was Job, simple, and upright, and fearing God, whom Satan besought that he might tempt: and power was given him from the Lord over his possessions and his flesh; and he destroyed all his substance and his children, and wounded his flesh also with a grievous ulcer.

Common

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
