First ReadingBaruch 5:1-9

From the Book of Baruch

1Take off the garment of your mourning and affliction,O Jerusalem, and put on forever the beauty of the glory from God.2Put on the robe of the righteousness from God.Set on your head a diadem of the glory of the Everlasting.3For God will show your splendor everywhere under heaven.4For your name will be called by God forever “Righteous Peace, Godly Glory”.

5Arise, O Jerusalem, and stand upon the height.Look around you toward the eastand see your children gathered from the going down of the sun to its rising at the word of the Holy One,rejoicing that God has remembered them.6For they went from you on foot, being led away by their enemies, but God brings them in to you carried on high with glory,on a royal throne.7For God has appointed that every high mountainand the everlasting hills should be made low,and the valleys filled up to make the ground level, that Israel may go safely in the glory of God.8Moreover the woodsand every sweet smelling tree have shaded Israel by the commandment of God.9For God will lead Israel with joy in the light of his glory with the mercyand righteousness that come from him.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 126:1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 6

1When the Lord brought back those who returned to Zion,we were like those who dream.2Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing.

2Then they said among the nations,“The Lord has done great things for them.”3The Lord has done great things for us,and we are glad.

4Restore our fortunes again, Lord, like the streams in the Negev.5Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.

6He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.

Second ReadingPhilippians 1:4-6, 8-11

From the Letter of Paul to the Philippians

4always in every request of mine on behalf of you all, making my requests with joy,5for your partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;6being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. verse 7 is not read8For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

9This I pray, that your love may abound yet moreand more in knowledge and all discernment,10so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincereand without offense to the day of Christ,11being filled with the fruits of righteousnesswhich are through Jesus Christ,to the glory and praise of God.

GospelLuke 3:1-6

From the Gospel according to Luke

1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,2during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias,in the wilderness.3He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.4As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness,‘Make ready the way of the Lord.Make his paths straight.5Every valley will be filled.Every mountain and hill will be brought low.The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.6All flesh will see God’s salvation.’”

EpistleLectio

Lectio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apostoli ad Romános

Rom 15:4-13.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 15:4-13

Brethren: Whatever things have been written have been written for our instruction, that through the patience and the consolation afforded by the Scriptures we may have hope. May then the God of patience and of comfort grant you to be of one mind towards one another according to Jesus Christ; that, one in spirit, you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore receive one another, even as Christ has received you to the honor of God. For I say that Christ Jesus has been a minister of the circumcision in order to show God’s fidelity in confirming the promises made to our fathers, but that the Gentiles glorify God because of His mercy, as it is written, Therefore will I praise You among the Gentiles, and will sing to Your name. And again He says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with His people. And again, Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; and sing His praises, all you peoples. And again Isaias says, There shall be the root of Jesse, and He Who shall arise to rule the Gentiles... in Him the Gentiles shall hope. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 11:2-10

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 11:2-10

At that time, when John had heard in prison of the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples to say to Him, Are You He Who is to come, or shall we look for another? And Jesus answering said to them, Go and report to John what you have heard and seen: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead rise, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not scandalized in Me. Then, as they went away, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, What did you go out to the desert to see? A reed shaken by the wind? But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who wear soft garments are in the houses of kings. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before Your face, who shall make ready Your way before You.’

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
