First ReadingActs 16:1-10

From the Acts of the Apostles

1He came to Derbe and Lystra;and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed, but his father was a Greek.2The brothers who were at Lystraand Iconium gave a good testimony about him.3Paul wanted to have him go out with him,and he took and circumcised himbecause of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.4As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keepwhich had been ordained by the apostlesand elders who were at Jerusalem.5So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.

6When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.7When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn’t allow them.8Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.9A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him and saying,“Come over into Macedonia and help us.”10When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 100:1b-2, 3, 5

1Shout for joy to the Lord, all you lands!2Serve the Lord with gladness.Come before his presence with singing.

3Know that the Lord, he is God.It is he who has made us, and we are his.We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

5For the Lord is good. His loving kindness endures forever, his faithfulness to all generations.

GospelJohn 15:18-21

From the Gospel according to John

18If the world hates you,you know that it has hated me before it hated you.19If you were of the world, the world would love its own.But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.20Remember the word that I said to you:‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.21But they will do all these things to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.

Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst gift thine holy servant Paul with great love that he might preach the mystery of thy cross, and hast been pleased that through him a new family should grow up in thy Church, grant unto us at his prayers that upon earth we may so call thy sufferings to mind as worthily to gain the fruit thereof in heaven.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corinthios

1 Cor 1:17-25.

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor 1:17-25.

Brothers: Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made void. For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the prudence of the prudent I will reject. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world, by wisdom, knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of our preaching, to save them that believe. For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling-block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

GradualGraduale

Allelúja, allelúja.

2 Cor 5:15

Alleluja, alleluja

2 Cor 5:15

And Christ died for all; that they also who live, may not now live to themselves, but unto him who died for them, and rose again. Alleluja.

Rom 8:17

And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God, and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. Alleluja.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 10:1-9

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 10:1-9

At that time, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them forth two by two before Him into every town and place where He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest. Go. Behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry neither purse, nor wallet, nor sandals, and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if a son of peace be there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they have; for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. And whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you, and cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
