First ReadingActs 4:8-12

From the Acts of the Apostles

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the peopleand elders of Israel,9if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man,by what means this man has been healed,10may it be known to you all,and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands here before you whole in him.11He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you,the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’12There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaventhat is given among men,by which we must be saved!”

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 118:1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 28, 29

1Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.

8It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to put confidence in man.9It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to put confidence in princes.

21I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me,and have become my salvation.22The stone which the builders rejectedhas become the cornerstone.23This is the Lord’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.

26Blessed is he who comes in the Lord’s name!We have blessed you out of the Lord’s house.

28You are my God, and I will give thanks to you.You are my God, I will exalt you.

29Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.

Second Reading1 John 3:1-2

From the First Letter of John

1See how great a love the Father has given to us,that we should be called children of God!For this cause the world doesn’t know us,because it didn’t know him.2Beloved, now we are children of God.It is not yet revealed what we will be;but we know that when he is revealed,we will be like him,for we will see him just as he is.

GospelJohn 10:11-18

From the Gospel according to John

11“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.12He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn’t own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them.13The hired hand flees because he is a hired handand doesn’t care for the sheep.14I am the good shepherd.I know my own, and I’m known by my own;15even as the Father knows me, and I know the Father.I lay down my life for the sheep.16I have other sheep which are not of this fold.I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd.17Therefore the Father loves me,because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.18No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself.I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.I received this commandment from my Father.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Petri Apóstoli

1 Pet 2:11-19

Lesson from the first letter of St. Peter the Apostle

1 Pet 2:11-19

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, to refrain yourselves from carnal desires which war against the soul, Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works, which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation. Be ye subject therefore to every human creature for God's sake: whether it be to the king as excelling; Or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of the good: For so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not as making liberty a cloak for malice, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thankworthy, if for conscience towards God, a man endure sorrows, suffering wrongfully.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 16:16-22

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 16:16-22

In that time: Jesus said to his disciples: A little while, and now you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father. Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father? They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh. And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me? Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman, when she is in labour, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she hath brought forth the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. So also you now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice; and your joy no man shall take from you.

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
