First ReadingEzekiel 18:25-28

From the Book of Ezekiel

25“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not equal.’Hear now, house of Israel:Is my way not equal?Aren’t your ways unequal?26When the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in it, then he dies in his iniquity that he has done.27Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickednessthat he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right,he will save his soul alive.28Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressionsthat he has committed,he shall surely live.He shall not die.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 25:4-5, 6-7, 8-9

4Show me your ways, Lord.Teach me your paths.5Guide me in your truth, and teach me,for you are the God of my salvation.I wait for you all day long.

6Lord, remember your tender mercies and your loving kindness, for they are from old times.7Don’t remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions.Remember me according to your loving kindness, for your goodness’ sake, Lord.

8Good and upright is the Lord, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way.9He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way.

Second ReadingPhilippians 2:1-11

From the Letter of Paul to the Philippians

or Philippians 2:1-5

1If therefore there is any exhortation in Christ,if any consolation of love,if any fellowship of the Spirit,if any tender mercies and compassion,2make my joy full by being like-minded,having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;3doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;4each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

5Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,6who, existing in the form of God,didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,7but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.8And being found in human form,he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.9Therefore God also highly exalted him,and gave to him the name which is above every name,10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,11and that every tongue should confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.

GospelMatthew 21:28-32

From the Gospel according to Matthew

28But what do you think?A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’29He answered, ‘I will not,’but afterward he changed his mind, and went.30He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I’m going, sir,’ but he didn’t go.31Which of the two did the will of his father?”

They said to him, “The first.”

Jesus said to them,“Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectorsand the prostitutes are entering into God’s Kingdom before you.32For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him;but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn’t even repent afterward, that you might believe him.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Gálatas.

Gal 5:25-26; 6:1-10

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Galatians

Gal 5:25-26; 6:1-10

Brethren: If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk. Let us not become desirous of vainglory, provoking one another, envying one another. Brethren, even if a person is caught doing something wrong, you who are spiritual instruct such a one in a spirit of meekness, considering yourself, lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, whereas he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let everyone test his own work, and so he will have glory in himself only, and not in comparison with another. For each one will bear his own burden. And let him who is instructed in the word share all good things with his teacher. Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what a man sows in the flesh, from the flesh also will reap corruption. But he who sows in the spirit, from the spirit will reap life everlasting. And in doing good let us not grow tired; for in due time we shall reap if we do not relax. Therefore, while we have time, let us do good to all men, but especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 7:11-16

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 7:11-16

At that time, Jesus went into a city called Naim; and His disciples and a large crowd went with Him. And as He drew near the gate of the town, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large gathering from the town was with her. And the Lord, seeing her, had compassion on her, and said to her, Do not weep. And He went up and touched the stretcher; and the bearers stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise. And he who was dead, sat up, and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother. But fear seized upon all, and they began to glorify God, saying, A great prophet has risen among us, and God has visited His people.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
