First ReadingHabakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4

From the Book of Habakkuk

2Lord, how long will I cry, and you will not hear?I cry out to you “Violence!”and will you not save?3Why do you show me iniquity, and look at perversity? For destruction and violence are before me.There is strife, and contention rises up.

some verses are not read2The Lord answered me,“Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it.3For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end,and won’t prove false.Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come.It won’t delay.4Behold, his soul is puffed up.It is not upright in him,but the righteous will live by his faith.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9

1Oh come, let’s sing to the Lord.Let’s shout aloud to the rock of our salvation!2Let’s come before his presence with thanksgiving.Let’s extol him with songs!

6Oh come, let’s worship and bow down.Let’s kneel before the Lord, our Maker,7for he is our God.We are the people of his pasture, and the sheep in his care.Today, oh that you would hear his voice!

8Don’t harden your heart, as at Meribah,as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,9when your fathers tempted me,tested me, and saw my work.

Second Reading2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14

From the Second Letter of Paul to Timothy

6For this cause, I remind youthat you should stir up the gift of Godwhich is in you through the laying on of my hands.7For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.8Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner;but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,

verses 9–12 are not read13Hold the pattern of sound wordswhich you have heard from me,in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.14That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

GospelLuke 17:5-10

From the Gospel according to Luke

5The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

6The Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you would tell this sycamore tree,‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’and it would obey you.7But who is there among you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say when he comes in from the field,‘Come immediately and sit down at the table’?8Wouldn’t he rather tell him,‘Prepare my supper, clothe yourself properly, and serve me while I eat and drink.Afterward you shall eat and drink’?9Does he thank that servantbecause he did the things that were commanded?I think not.10Even so you also, when you have done all the thingsthat are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.’”

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Ephésios

Ephes 5:15-21

Subjecti ínvicem in timóre Christi.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians

Eph 5:15-21

Brethren: See to it that you walk with care: not as unwise but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, for in that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 4:46-53

In illo témpore: Erat quidam régulus, cujus fílius infirmabátur Caphárnaum.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 4:46-53

At that time, there was a certain royal official whose son was lying sick at Capharnaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and besought Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders, you do not believe. The royal official said to Him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said to him, Go your way, your son lives. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and departed. But even as he was now going down, his servants met him and brought word saying that his son lived. He asked of them therefore the hour in which he had got better. And they told him, Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him. The father knew then that it was at that very hour in which Jesus had said to him, Your son lives. And he himself believed, and his whole household.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
