Feast · Ordinary Time · Sunday Cycle B · Psalter Week 4

First ReadingJeremiah 31:31-34

From the Book of Jeremiah

or Hebrews 10:11-18

31“Behold, the days come,”says the Lord, “that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah,32not according to the covenantthat I made with their fathers in the daythat I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which covenant of mine they broke, although I was a husband to them,” says the Lord.33“But this is the covenantthat I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord:

“I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart.I will be their God,and they shall be my people.34They will no longer each teach his neighbor, and every man teach his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord;’for they will all know me,from their least to their greatest,” says the Lord,“for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 110:1bcde, 2, 3

1The Lord says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.”

2The Lord will send out the rod of your strength out of Zion.Rule among your enemies.

3Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array.Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.

GospelMark 14:22-25

From the Gospel according to Mark

22As they were eating,Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed it,he broke it and gave to them, and said, “Take, eat. This is my body.”

23He took the cup, andwhen he had given thanks, he gave to them. They all drank of it.24He said to them, “This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.25Most certainly I tell you,I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine untilthat day when I drink it anew in God’s Kingdom.”
