First Reading1 John 4:11-18

From the First Letter of John

11Beloved, if God loved us in this way,we also ought to love one another.12No one has seen God at any time.If we love one another,God remains in us,and his love has been perfected in us.

13By this we know that we remain in him and he in us,because he has given us of his Spirit.14We have seen and testifythat the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God,God remains in him, and he in God.16We know and have believed the love which God has for us.God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God,and God remains in him.17In this, love has been made perfect among us,that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so we are in this world.18There is no fear in love;but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 72:1-2, 10, 12-13

1God, give the king your justice;your righteousness to the royal son.2He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.

10The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

12For he will deliver the needy when he cries;the poor, who has no helper.13He will have pity on the poor and needy. He will save the souls of the needy.

GospelMark 6:45-52

From the Gospel according to Mark

45Immediately he made his disciples get into the boatand go ahead to the other side,to Bethsaida, while he himself sent the multitude away.46After he had taken leave of them,he went up the mountain to pray.

47When evening had come, the boat was in the middle of the sea,and he was alone on the land.48Seeing them distressed in rowing, for the wind was contrary to them, about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea;and he would have passed by them,49but they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out;50for they all saw him and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with themand said to them, “Cheer up!It is I! Don’t be afraid.”51He got into the boat with them;and the wind ceased, and they were very amazed among themselves, and marveled;52for they hadn’t understood about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

Titus 2:11-15

Beloved: The grace of God our Saviour has appeared to all men, instructing us, in order that, rejecting ungodliness and worldly lusts, we may live temperately and justly and piously in this world; looking for the blessed hope and glorious coming of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity and cleanse for Himself an acceptable people, pursuing good works. Thus speak, and exhort, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nativity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God, for through the Mystery of the Word made flesh, the new light of Thy glory hath shone upon the eyes of our mind, so that while we acknowledge God in visible form, we may through Him be drawn to the love of things invisible. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Throne and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
