First ReadingActs 3:13-15, 17-19

From the Acts of the Apostles

13The God of Abraham,Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered upand denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.14But you denied the Holy and Righteous Oneand asked for a murderer to be granted to you,15and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead,to which we are witnesses.

verse 16 is not read17“Now, brothers, I know that you did this in ignorance,as did also your rulers.18But the thingswhich God announced by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer,he thus fulfilled.

19“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord,

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 4:2, 4, 7-8, 9

2Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness.Give me relief from my distress.Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

4But know that the Lord has set apart for himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to him.

7Many say, “Who will show us any good?”Lord, let the light of your face shine on us.8You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their new wine are increased.

9In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety.

Second Reading1 John 2:1-5a

From the First Letter of John

1My little children,I write these things to you so that you may not sin.If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father,Jesus Christ, the righteous.2And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.3This is how we know that we know him:if we keep his commandments.4One who says, “I know him,”and doesn’t keep his commandments,is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him.5But God’s love has most certainly been perfected in whoever keeps his word. This is how we know that we are in him:

GospelLuke 24:35-48

From the Gospel according to Luke

35They related the things that happened along the way,and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

36As they said these things,Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.”

37But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?39See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me.Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones,as you see that I have.”40When he had said this,he showed them his hands and his feet.41While they still didn’t believe for joy,and wondered, he said to them,“Do you have anything here to eat?”

42They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.43He took them, and ate in front of them.44He said to them, “This is what I told youwhile I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms concerning me must be fulfilled.”

45Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures.46He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to sufferand to rise from the dead the third day,47and that repentanceand remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.48You are witnesses of these things.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul to the Colossians

Col. 3:14-15, 17, 23-24

Brethren: Have charity, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men: knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 13:54-58

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 13:54-58

At that time: Jesus coming into His country, He taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this Man by this wisdom and miracles? Is not this the carpenter's Son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude: and His sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath He all these things? And they were scandalized in His regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And He wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.

St. Joseph

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should magnify with due praises, bless and proclaim Thee on the solemnity of blessed Joseph; who, being a just man, was given by Thee as a Spouse to the Virgin Mother of God, and, as a faithful and prudent servant was set over Thy Family, that, with fatherly care, he might guard Thine only-begotten Son, conceived by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, even Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with them we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted, while we say with lowly praise:
