First ReadingActs 9:31-42

From the Acts of the Apostles

31So the assemblies throughout all Judea,Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were built up.They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lordand in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

32As Peter went throughout all those parts,he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.33There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight yearsbecause he was paralyzed.34Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you.Get up and make your bed!”Immediately he arose.35All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him,and they turned to the Lord.

36Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which when translated means Dorcas. This woman was full of good worksand acts of mercy which she did.37In those days, she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.38As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.39Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the tunics and other garmentswhich Dorcas had made while she was with them.40Peter sent them all out, and knelt down and prayed.Turning to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up!”She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.41He gave her his hand and raised her up.Calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.42This became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 116:12-13, 14-15, 16-17

12What will I give to the Lord for all his benefits toward me?13I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the Lord’s name.

14I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes, in the presence of all his people.15Precious in the Lord’s sight is the death of his saints.

16Lord, truly I am your servant.I am your servant, the son of your servant girl. You have freed me from my chains.17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on the Lord’s name.

GospelJohn 6:60-69

From the Gospel according to John

60Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying!Who can listen to it?”

61But Jesus knowing in himselfthat his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?62Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?63It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.64But there are some of you who don’t believe.”For Jesus knew from the beginningwho they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him.65He said, “For this cause I have said to youthat no one can come to me,unless it is given to him by my Father.”

66At this, many of his disciples went backand walked no more with him.67Jesus said therefore to the twelve,“You don’t also want to go away, do you?”

68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go?You have the words of eternal life.69We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

1 Cor 1:18-25; 1:30

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor 1:18-25; 1:30;

For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the prudence of the prudent I will reject. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world, by wisdom, knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of our preaching, to save them that believe. For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling-block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and justice, and sanctification, and redemption:

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam.

Luc 12:2-8

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:2-8

For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed: nor hidden, that shall not be known. For whatsoever things you have spoken in darkness, shall be published in the light: and that which you have spoken in the ear in the chambers, shall be preached on the housetops. And I say to you, my friends: Be not afraid of them who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will shew you whom you shall fear: fear ye him, who after he hath killed, hath power to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you, fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? Yea, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows. And I say to you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God.

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
