First ReadingSirach 35:1-12

From the Book of Sirach

1He who keeps the law multiplies offerings.He who heeds the commandments sacrifices a peace offering.2He who returns a kindness offers fine flour.He who gives alms sacrifices a thank offering.3To depart from wickedness pleases the Lord.To depart from unrighteousness is an atoning sacrifice.4See that you don’t appear in the presence of the Lord empty.5For all these things are done because of the commandment.6The offering of the righteous enriches the altar.The sweet fragrance of it is before the Most High.7The sacrifice of a righteous man is acceptable.It won’t be forgotten.8Glorify the Lord with generosity.Don’t reduce the first fruits of your hands.9In every gift show a cheerful countenance,And dedicate your tithe with gladness.10Give to the Most High according as he has given.As your hand has found, give generously.11For the Lord repays,and he will repay you sevenfold.12Don’t plan to bribe him with gifts, for he will not receive them.Don’t set your mind on an unrighteous sacrifice,For the Lord is the judge,and with him is no respect of persons.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 50:5-6, 7-8, 14, 23

5“Gather my saints together to me,those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”6The heavens shall declare his righteousness,for God himself is judge.

7“Hear, my people, and I will speak.Israel, I will testify against you.I am God, your God.8I don’t rebuke you for your sacrifices.Your burnt offerings are continually before me.

14Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving.Pay your vows to the Most High.

23Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me,and prepares his way so that I will show God’s salvation to him.”

GospelMark 10:28-31

From the Gospel according to Mark

28Peter began to tell him,“Behold, we have left all and have followed you.”

29Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you,there is no one who has left house,or brothers, or sisters,or father, or mother,or wife, or children,or land, for my sake,and for the sake of the Good News,30but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time:houses, brothers, sisters,mothers, children,and land, with persecutions;and in the age to come eternal life.31But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Léctio Actuum Apostolórum

Acts 8:14-17

Lesson from the Acts of Apostles

Acts 8:14-17.

In those days, when the Apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John. On their arrival they prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit; for as yet He had not come upon any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit! Lord of light!

From Thy clear celestial height, Thy pure, beaming radiance give:

Come, Thou, Father of the poor!

Come, with treasures which endure!

Come, Thou light of all that live!

Thou of all consolers best,

Visiting the troubled breast,

Dost refreshing peace bestow:

Thou in toil art comfort sweet;

Pleasant coolness in the heat;

Solace in the midst of woe.

Light immortal! Light divine!

Visit Thou these hearts of Thine, And our inmost being fill.

If Thou take Thy grace away,

Nothing pure in man will stay;

All his good is turn’d to ill.

Heal our wounds - our strength renew;

On our dryness pour Thy dew;

Wash the stains of guilt away:

Bend the stubborn heart and will;

Melt the frozen, warm the chill;

Guide the steps that go astray.

Thou, on those who evermore

Thee confess and Thee adore,

In Thy sevenfold gifts descend.

Give them comfort when they die;

Give them life with Thee on high;

Give them joys which never end.

Amen. Alleluia.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 10:1-10

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 10:1-10.

At that time, Jesus said to the Pharisees, Amen, amen, I say to you, he who enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up another way, is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is shepherd of the sheep. To this man the gatekeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them forth. And when he has let out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. But a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers. This parable Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what He was saying to them. Again, therefore, Jesus said to them, Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All whoever have come are thieves and robbers; but the sheep have not heard them. I am the door. If anyone enter by Me he shall be safe, and shall go in and out, and shall find pastures. The thief comes only to steal, and slay, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.
