First ReadingLeviticus 13:1-2, 44-46*

From the Book of Leviticus

1The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,2“When a man shall have a swelling in his body’s skin,or a scab, or a bright spot, and it becomes in the skin of his body the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons, the priests. verses 3–43 are not read44he is a leprous man.He is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him unclean. His plague is on his head.

45“The leper in whom the plague is shall wear torn clothes, and the hair of his head shall hang loose. He shall cover his upper lip,and shall cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’46All the days inwhich the plague is in him he shall be unclean. He is unclean. He shall dwell alone. His dwelling shall be outside of the camp.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 32:1-2, 5, 11*

1Blessed is he whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is covered.2Blessed is the man to whom the Lord doesn’t impute iniquity,in whose spirit there is no deceit.

5I acknowledged my sin to you.I didn’t hide my iniquity.I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

11Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, you righteous!Shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart!

Second Reading1 Corinthians 10:31—11:1*

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

31Whether therefore you eat or drink,or whatever you do,do all to the glory of God.32Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks,or to the assembly of God;33even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.

1Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.

GospelMark 1:40-45*

From the Gospel according to Mark

40A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him,and saying to him,“If you want to, you can make me clean.”

41Being moved with compassion,he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, “I want to.Be made clean.”42When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from himand he was made clean.43He strictly warned him and immediately sent him out,44and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priestand offer for your cleansing the thingswhich Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”

45But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter,so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places.People came to him from everywhere.
